Good game NC. The difference was TOs. They D stepped up after we drove and scored easily on first two possessions. Great stop on 4th and 1 on the 1 when we was going in for a score. 25-29 NC
Great game tonight ! It's the Beam affect! Newton is 100x better on D and once their offense really clicks it will be scary. Hickory is a rival they will play newton close early then newton should pull away !!! 56-21 next week over the red tornadoes
No it's the Coach Harvel affect Trooper. He will correct the defensive quitters of the past. He knows when a kid is scared to get in on the play and his *** will sit. Goodbye big kids with no heart. Hello little guy that ain't skeared.

Bandys beat South Caldwell, Bandys loss at Fred T Foard. South with 1800 students playing 2A and little 3A are in for a loooooong season.
Good game, hats off to Asheville for playing a hard fought and entertaining game. The way this game started off, I thought it was going to be a long night. Proud of the way the NC team and the young guys responded to some early adversity.
Asheville will still win the MAC in my opinion I don't know what AC Reynolds has but Asheville has studs and with them spreading the ball around. Nobody in the Biltmore area should beat them. Will be a tough game in Canton
It doesn't get any easier for N-C. Lincolnton, EL, Maiden, and West Caldwell. Whew, big time 2a conf. One of the best in state
AC Reynolds will win the MAC again. AC and Mt Heritage are the better teams of that region. Franklin will be right there again.
Harvell is all I am saying...N-C is a young team that is only going to get better...good to see a team not fold after getting down early....loved the stadium and the school is beautiful but there were Ashville fans showing no class on Newtons side...truthfully I believe Asheville's o-line got tired at the end of the second and fourth quarters and Newton took advantage..good game but works on the old heart watching one like that...lol

MSC, you always have a couple of those people wherever you go. I herd them and just ignored them. Leaving the stadium, people from Asheville were very nice. There were several who said congratulations and to have a safe trip home. This team will only get better, and the next couple of years are going to be fun.
Congrats to NC and good luck the rest of the season. If Asheville doesn't cut down on the turnovers it's gonna be a long year. Up 14 Asheville gets a int and could of had the ball inside the 20 but fumble it right back to them. The fumble on the kickoff to start the second half changed the game!
Sophomore are #2, #3, #4, #5, #58, and I can't remember the 6th guy that started tonight
Newton conover was very tough and showed some heart after being down 14-0 early. That said, Asheville cannot continue to turn the ball over at this rate and have success. A muffed punt deep in our own territory and a fumbled kickoff return deep in our own territory are the reason we aren't 2-0. Davidsons lone int wasn't even his fault since he got hammered as he threw it. Truth be told we probably should have lost last week and won last night so it equals out. I will say the pisgah game is pretty important. I don't think this Asheville team is as talented as last year but they play hard, and when they figure this offense out with more and more game reps, we could be pretty good. Last year was terrible because our players acted like they didn't give a crap, even though we lost last night and turned the ball over and had a lot of penalties, I didn't think we lost because of effort. Asheville Reynolds and Erwin 2-4 so far? Ouch
Cougar the interception was indeed caused by the big hit on the QB. The fumbled kickoff was another good play by NC. One kid stood him up another kid made a perfect hit on the ball causing it to pop out. The fumbled punt return was a bad decision. Don't really want to try and field a punt over your shoulders running backwards. They are kids though and will make mistakes. My point though, 2 of the 3 turnovers were forced by NC. Asheville will be fine. You guys have a good team with an explosive offense that will only get better throughout the year.
almost all the starters except for the QB #8 and a couple linemen,,,,N-C is about 3 deep at QB and RB positions this year..
I mentioned #2, #3, #4, #5, #58, and another lineman (can't remember number) are all Sophomores. Running back #24 is a junior. One of the best athletes on the team (#1 a junior) who plays on both sides of the ball (wr, olb) did not play last night due to injury in practice, but should be back playing soon.
Well I hope we continue this series next year. Sounds like NC is on the rise. Our whole OL and DL will be back next year along with couple WRs, LBs and DBs. Good luck the rest of the way. I'll follow NC closely
