We run a spread offense, and a 3-4 defense with alot of young starters on both sides of the ball. Ive never been to AHS so looking forward to a good game in an unfamiliar territory.

This will be a incredible matchup week 2 with a playoff like atmosphere. Asheville High school is one of the nicest stadiums in the state. Interested to see Asheville size Vs the NC speed. Not saying AHS doesn't have burners themselves but it should be a great game! Was at the Asheville and Frankiln game last week and Asheville is going 4 and 5 wide spreading the ball around and also playing a 3-4 on D

Little pigs is the place to eat before Asheville games! Right across the street from the school!

Cherokee might have a say on that. Asheville is very nice but it seems very dark and the track takes away from the atmosphere some. I feel like I am a mile away from the field.

I've been to Cherokee's stadium multiple times, it is really nice but it is very small. Obviously it should be since it's a small school but I'd say a high majority of outsiders from other parts of the state would give ours the edge.

You can't beat Asheville's scenery and whole stadium set up. I mean it is by far the nicest I've seen, and they have ample seating. I say it's the nicest in NC.

Now I prefer Erwin's, because there isn't a track surrounding the field. The new turf is pretty sweet as well, but Asheville has the total package from seating, backdrop, and playing surface. Erwin's scenery just isn't that nice.

Almost every stadium in the Mac is better than 80 percent of the stadiums in the rest of the state.

That is true. What makes Cherokee so unique is beside the stadium being state of the art, you have amazing scenery with a world class trout stream, the gsmnp, and Elk literally right behind the stadium.

Erwin's home side is a very nice place to see a game. The visitor side is terrible your kinda sitting in a hole you can't see anything on the other side of the field.

Erwin's away side is like all the rest of the MAC schools with the exception of Asheville. The difference is you are right on top of the field. I have heard some not so nice language at Erwin games because you are so close you can hear the coaches and players.

Roberson and Erwin sit down a little more than the others. You can see the other side of the field at the other schools fine.

I have sat on the other side at Erwin a few times but didn't notice that. It may have just been where I was located so I will take your word for it..

Erwin has the best nachos and worst visitors restrooms in the lower 48. Never did understand why you'd want fans from both teams exiting the stadium via the same path. Had a fat guy spit tobacco on me back in the late 90's while passing by the ticket booth after a game. I knocked both of his front teeth out and the deputy who was standing their watching it told the guy he had it coming.

Good ole' Asheville. A classic NW4A school back in the day. Talk about a spread out conf-Gastonia schools, Burke co schools South Caldwell, Hickory, and Asheville. Folks did some driving back then.

Asheville has ALWAYS had athletes. Folks used to get Beam down the road bout cupcake schedules when he was a North Lincoln. Id say playing Asheville in non conf play he's totally made up for it all if that was the case.

I know coach Beam reads these things- what's up Beam!! Best wishes and safe travels up to Asheville. Hickory area is pulling for you guys this fri night.

Beam scheduled Asheville but he added Hickory who is 1-21 the last two years, Highland Tech 1-43 I think over four years, and Central Virginia Home School Academy. Yeah, give the man props for that badass schedule. That schedule will get him over the .500 mark for sure.

I ain't coming. Too much violence for me. Last time I spent time with Asheville fans was two years ago at Derierre Gentleman's Club in Myrtle Beach and nobody got hurt. Both guys played for Asheville about 5 years ago and they looked pretty mello that night. Everybody got to keep their teeth and the hoes went home with the green.

I don't know how good newton conover is this year because they won 73-0 last week. Now it was against a terrible team, but they still put 73 points up. Should we win? Probably but if we lost it wouldn't surprise me. I'm not anticipating a 3-4 touchdown game, although I hope you're right

Asheville easily wins......40-17

If this wasn't a completely new system for us, and we were in week 4, not week 2......then maybe. I think we've got pretty much all the pieces to the puzzle, we just need to figure out how to put it all together.

They might have played a terrible team last week, but they did score 73 points. It's not like they played a terrible team and won 35-14

I see your logic, but we will see.....Asheville beat them last year on the road by 2 TDS with a Cougar team even your on fans admit wasn't up to par. I'm say at home with a new offense and all pumped after win at Franklin I see Asheville winning easy.

Yes it,was a bad team. 66 points by late second quarter.

Highland Tech has never been a football school. More of a prep for college/killer grades/on to make big bucks 5 to 6 years after leaving kinda school.

It's a rec thing, not much more. They need games just like the next school so N-C was up for it I guess.

Being 5th in the conf could be a tall order to the likes of EL and Lincolnton with West Caldwell improving and being In a race for 3rd place.

I here from a lot of my fellow NC Alumni and fans that this will be Beams best team since he has been at NC,I also here that he is approaching coaching differently and letting his assistants be more involved in decision making and basically being a better coach. I don't know if all that is true because after the last two seasons of having to call timeouts at least twice a game EVERY game just to get a played called and calling the same plays over and over and over not to mention scheduling teams like Highland Tech just to get enough wins to make the playoffs, I have decided to go only games that are competitive (See you at Asheville). If this is his best team he has had at NC then shame on him for waiting until now to become the coach we all heard about because he didn't give the 2014 and 2015 team his all! They also had talent and could have been mush better. He must have decided NC was the place for him and has quit looking for other jobs......maybe that's the change.
