Erwin's new turf..

For my fellow Erwin fans I went out and watched the 12 team 7 on 7 at Erwin yesterday. I snapped a few pics of the new field. It looks really good, I wasn't sold on the grey at first but seeing it in person I really liked it. The turf we had before needed upgraded so I am liking it..

Oh yeah, as for the games Shelby and Erwin both went 5-0 and looked really good. They didn't play each other though. Of course 7 on 7 doesn't mean much but I thought I would post anyways.

BD.....I saw all of the scores and know you guys whooped up on my Bulldogs, but how did we look in your assessment?

I was actually impressed with Burns yesterday. They have a very good qb and numerous guys that were making big catches. They seem a little lackluster on defense though. The qb stood out though. What grade is he in?

I'm not sure. I think we've been working a couple at QB but it's probably the same one we've had the last couple years. He's a senior this year. Good to hear we looked decent though.

Cam barbee took the majority of reps is a senior . He thru the ball well. He did not play in the erwin game keith irvin, transfer from rs , played some qb , corner and receiver. Man ol man that field is sweet . Most high schools can only dream of a field like that . Wow . You guys were great host BD. Everyone was very friendly and it was well organized .

Burns receivers looked very good to me. I hope they have a good season. I always enjoy the 7 on 7 because you get to see very small schools all the way up to 4a schools.

The new turf looks really good...love the colored end zones. Hoping that one day we'll have our own carpet...

I was told by some coworkers from McDowell County that they were getting turf next season. Not sure if that is true but they seem to be a good source.

I like Erwin's new turf, I see they are going to the grey a little bit more, I would have did the end zone red with grey or white letters, same with the mid field. But I still like it.

I was told they wanted to adopt more grey in their colors to stand out a little from all of the other red and white schools. When I was in school there back in the day they had grey as a 3rd color option. I wasn't to sure about the grey end-zone till I seen it in person. It is different but looks really good.

The ones I can think of that don't have turf....Murphy, Swain, Andrews, Robbinsville, Rosman, Franklin, East Hend, West Hend, Hendersonville, North Hend, Mtn Heritage, Mitchell, Polk. I may have missed a few but these are the ones that come to mind.

you guys are well traveled and have good memories.

I guess a lot of 1A and 2A schools dont have it due to the money involved. If we just had an Education Lottery to get extra money for schools...

Expensive at first but saves a lot of money over the long haul, and saves man hours working on the grass fields to maintain them.
