East Lincoln at Monroe

The two teams are familiar with each other. Monroe beat EL with Surratt before. I think Monroe beats them again this year.
Their schedule was no slouch and they beat some top 3AA teams convincingly. They could well be playing Crest this week if they were 3AA

Their common opponent with East Lincoln is Hunter Huss, EL beat Huss 49-6
EL toughest opponents were Lincolnton(small 2A regional finalist) and ForestView(small 3A, didn't do much this year).

This was going to be the epic showdown, but now I'm kind of bummed.
If Surratt were playing I'd take E Lincoln. As it is I think Monroe wins by two to three TDs. I watched East Friday and they can be explosive at times but inconsistent with the young QB. I think Monroe will pressure him and cause a lot of turnovers. E. Lincoln's defense looked good but I think the mountain is too steep. Playing at Monroe, essentially a 3AA school, without star QB? This is an easy pick.

The redhawks beat EL with Surratt year before last. I think the outcome will be the same as that year.
What a game, what a game, this is the one everyone expected to see at the end and here it is. The young QB has done great along with Banks, Dollar, Surratt, Childers and the big online have all stepped up. Coach Byus has done a great job, how many teams would have won 1 playoff game but now 2 without arguably one of the best athletes in the state and one of the best QB's in the country and going to a freshman, what a great job Coach Byus.
Monroe is loaded with speed but not the same Monroe from 2013 (nowhere near the size advantage nor the number of playmakers) they are well coached and have 2 great playmakers on offense ( one of them being #1, and man is he exciting). their defense reminds me of the old Lincolnton def, 5-2 shoot gaps and man up. Yes, EL has a tough road this week but wouldn't want it any other way

I'm really excited to see these two go toe to toe... I always like the Mustangs chances, and I'm glad our new qb has had a couple of games to get up to varsity speed. #1 and 6 and 5 and 7 are all serious threats from Monroe and then getting to play at the empty nest sure gives the Hawks an advantage. Let's hope for an injury free game and a good one at that
wow people said Monroe was fast..there can not be a faster more athletic team in the entire state...if Monroe plays well at home on the turf this game will not be close..id love to see chaz play but toooooooo many athletes on Monroe...Monroe by 21
No dog in fight or great viewpoint of game but should be interesting none the less. Both athletic fast and well coached teams. If EB woulda squeaked by EL it'd be all over the next week for the Cavs. The better team won an advanced. I'll go with Monroe by 2 TDs on this one an next year should be another good run by the Stangs'
Update on Chazz Surratt: He went to visit UNC team doctors and they determined that he will not need surgery. He will still be in a brace for a week then go thru a rehab process.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, no it will not be Surratt, it will be Graham and may see ?????????????????, very excited, countdown is on, both Lincoln County schools on the road and hopefully both coming back with a regional championship trophy. Let's go Mustangs.
I told you guys this game had blowout written all over it. Everybody playing for 2nd place in 2AA.
Monroe beat EL in every aspect of the game, hats off and congrats. Good luck next week,. Still wouldn't trade our guys for anybody, what a run seniors, 2 state championships, 1 regional runner up and 4 conf championships. Thanks for the memories, and big thanks to all the fans that made it out tonight
Worst part of the game was the monotone play by play statistician announcer.. Good game by Monroe though those guys are dang good and proud of the Mustangs on a great season!
Hats off to the Mustangs, what a run. Speaks volumes for their players, staff and everything you've put into it. Proud you're from Lincoln County.
Monroe was everything they were billed to be, fantastic team, I'll be cheering for them next week. Great run east Lincoln, couldn't be more proud of this group very accomplished and a great group to be around
