Want to let us in on what's so funny? Are you thinking about their football predictions?

Yeah, who could ever pick Ashbrook as a favorite with their coaching staff? They could have the New England Patriots on their roster and still not win the conference. Forestview maybe, since they won it last year and still have Moe Neal. But Mr. Moe must have been looking forward to Syracuse Friday night cause he sure wasn't doing anything against the Raiders.

After seeing Forestview against the Lions in the CC jamboree(I believe the score was 33 to 0 in the first qt)I believe they would probably finish near last in the SMAC.

How long has ashbrooks head coach been there? It's glaringly obvious their teams are always incredibly talented and always underachieve. Surely a bunch of us on a message board aren't the only ones who sees this. Last year we were pretty damn good and ashbrook was every bit as athletic if not more and we beat them by double digits in gastonia

What makes the Ashbrook win over East Gaston ironic is that they dismissed two of their star WRs (Glenn and Givens) the day of the game and had to go to a running oriented offense. Makes you wonder what their record would look like if they had worked on a run game earlier in the season.

Ahscougar1 the problem is they don't care at Ashbrook. If anyone knows the real reason the sent Briggs packing they will agree with me. They're irrelevant until Hill leaves.

I wonder if their dismissals had anything to do with what I noticed in our game with them last week. I noted on the boards that every time their receivers got open and caught a pass (which was often against the SP pass defense) they just seemed to stop and lay down. They never seemed to try to fight for extra yardage after the catch.

It didn't have anything to do with their play on the field. I'm not going to blast the 2 on here, but the coach was very justified in his decision.

I was not trying to single out any Ashbrook players. I don't now which two were let go (and don't care to know for that matter) other than they were receivers. I just noted that in general the Ashbrook team and especially the receivers did not seem to play very hard, not nearly up to their capabilities. Effort after the catch was close to non-existent.

Don't play with me, dog. I'm talking about the 3rd place in the conference prediction.
Seadog28, The Gazette was correct in evaluating South Point in this years conference race. Their mistake was their evaluations of Forestview and Ashbrook. They missed both those pretty bad.

Xchamp15, if the gazette was so right about Sp why did we win the big south and had Shelby and Crest on the ropes. We should have beat shelby. I have said it all year that Ashbrook and fv would lose to Sp and we WOULD win the Big south and we will make a run in the playoffs and maybe win state.

The Gaston Gazette is not even funny - it has become pathetic. The sad thing is the new sports editor is not only missing grammatical errors, he is getting facts wrong. The latest article on the 2A playoff teams from the areas says that HH, SC, and LNC are 2-5 going into tonight's games. They are 2-4.

Oh, how I miss Phil Gardner.

The Gazette is a Joke.....almost a week after the ADM's came out, they release an article with bad information. They need to dust off those old awards and think back to what set them apart before.

I agree that he is one of the best. From what I have determined, he is going to Pharmacy School. He still contributes articles occasionally to the Gazette but he is not working there full time. He covered the East Gaston/Stuart Cramer game last week.

I understand why he is wanting to get away from the Gastonia Gizzard and change career paths. Smart man. The newspaper industry is going the way of loom fixing and making buggy whips. Now if he wants real job security and is willing to move to Cramper County, he should be studying DNA testing / brain cell detection. The common myth up there is that they are SP's daddy when they really can't determine who the baby's daddy is.

So the brilliant Gastonia Gizzard's preseason conference favorites finish 3rd and 4th in the conference and may not even make the playoffs? We need a competition to see who has more brain cramps, the Gazette sports writers or the Crest Cramper fans.

The new Gazette Editter sure don/t care anything about Kings Mountain Football or any Cleveland County Football for that matter.I have been taking the Gazette for over Fourty years mostly for the sports section so I could keep up with Kings Mountains Sports Scores and such.. Well I'm dropping the paper and I encourage more from here to do the same . We are not getting the coverage we use to get . So good By Gazette.

They are not doing much of anything there any longer. They must have laid off all most of their staff because if you notice, most news articles are now imported in. Very little local news or sports originating from the Gizzard any longer. Probably a sign of the future for all newspapers. Seems like the source for local happenings is becoming Facebook more and more. A low information nation. Dangerous.
