Jubal.....so you honestly think Franklin has the worst stadium in WNC? I believe you need your glasses checked because the "Panther Pit" is nowhere near the bottom. We may not have a stadium comparable to the likes of Asheville, Pisgah, Tuscola, Swain or Cherokee but we definitely aren't the worst in WNC. You've obviously never visited all of the stadiums in WNC, well either that or you are about as blind as Ray Charles.

Asheville and Cherokee are the two best in the mountains, IMO. Unfortunately, Cherokee hasn't had a good season since they built the new stadium.

Robbinsville is one that may not look like much, especially the visitor's side, but is maybe the best place to watch a game. Great atmosphere, no track.

Call me crazy but I've always been fond of Mountain Heritage's stadium. It's a 14 mile hike to get there but it's all by itself in a big bowl and when the weather is just right everything that happens on the field echos around the stadium.
Worst stadium has to be Hendersonville. You're sitting with your back to the main street with people honking their horns and throwing stuff from their cars the entire game. And the field just down right sucks. It's either ankle deep in water or hard as concrete.

Erwin, Pisgah, and Tuscola do not have a track which makes the atmosphere so much better. Cherokee is probably the nicest stadium in the state.

I agree. I was there last week and the backdrop was beautiful at sunset.

Hey, no kidding we have deer and bears on our field all the time. And you could probably catch some hornyheads in the creek down by the baseball field.

Our field, stadium, weight room and locker room are very nice but our scoreboard is terrible. That thing has been there since Choo Choo played probably. They should blow that thing up, it's an eyesore.

I wouldn't say that too loudly - they shut down Burns' stadium a few years ago because somebody let the homecoming court, I mean, some goats, wander about freely on their field.

Our field is being replaced in 2 years. I think the new AD is working on getting a new scoreboard then. Probably going to do it through Pepsi like the new ones in the gym.

lol....that's pretty good. I remember a few years ago when someone painted a big yellow ding dong on our field. The administration was telling everyone it was a rocket with wheels. lol

Really the fact is there are about 10 stadiums in the mountain region that have the best views in the state. Very few stadiums below McDowel will compare to those artificial turf stadiums with the Blue Ridge Mountains as a background.

I think he has been run out of there a few times:D. I would hate officiating at stadiums with no track.

Used to love SPs. It has the ability to be really good with a couple of changes. You don't have many teams that come right out of locker rooms 30 yards from the playing field anymore. Most you have to walk a 1/2 mile to get to a locker room or grassy area. But Lineberger now resembles a trailer park now with all the trailer additions. If that money would've been spent on extensions to the bottom of the concession stand/restroom area....it would've been great. The new visitor concession stand is good....but I think the county paid for that. Looks like our baseball field a little bit now- with the late 1800s tenement house look.

I don't think we are near the bottom of this list either, but it is a bad experience from a visitor's standpoint. I spent a half on the visitor's side with some folks from Swain County. The road behind you is distracting (and at times disturbing) and you can't hear a word Guy Duvall says over the PA.

I really like Owen. Large field, plenty of seats, mountain setting. The view of the sunset from Madison's end zone is pretty special. Their visitor stands aren't much to speak of but they have a almost new turf field. Swain is pretty nice, has good capacity. Partial to Tuscola but admit it could use some updating. Asheville has an excellent stadium with a stately campus but the atmosphere is lacking most of the time. Cherokee is awesome but they made one design flaw in that the stands curve inward back to the field too close near the 10 yard lines so they had to pad the walls, covering up the nice rock work.

Franklin with their big drains on the sideline and their cobbled together looking home side and the old WCU turf laid out in the team boxes, meh. Robbinsville may be a great atmosphere and have great tradition but there is no excuse for their half-hearted visitor stands. I thought the state had some minimum requirements. They look like they just trucked over bleachers from a rec park softball field. Hibriten's visitor stands should be condemned.

Out of the 4 mtn conferences I haven't been to Hayesville, Murphy, Swain, Andrews.

Worst stadium I have ever been to on the road was Wilkes Central Best Was Shelby.

As a whole the far western schools are much nicer. I have been to Cummings, Bandys, Shelby, Lincolnton, Newton Conover, Wilkes Central, North Rowan. There may be more but I can't think of them but most of those are better than the bottom 3rd of my list.

Swain is the only of those 4 that mightmake it into your top tier. Hayesville is probably 2nd best out of those...it used to be one of the worst around, but they have added new turf and bleachers in recent years, and there's always been a great mountain view from the home side.

This games final score will be determined by last year's post game. If Owen did indeed act like they won the Super Bowl at Reynolds and the Reynolds coaches felt disrespected by it, it could get very ugly. I wasn't there so I don't know what happened after the game, but if Shane laws is the type of guy to remember something like that (something that may/may have not happened) it wouldn't surprise me to see Rico dowdle score 6-7 touchdowns and play into the 4th quarter with the game way out of hand.

Owen, Enka, and NB are pretty much identical. They are nice but I do not like how far the stands are from the field. Having a track really takes away from the atmosphere.

Worst fields: Burns/*crest. Same field, same bad bathroom facilities, same terrible tasting food that often runs out. Fields looks like a toilet bowl, and smells very similar.
