I remember it took me years to finally watch the original Dexter. I think it was in the first year of Covid…I always kept saying to myself (a serial killing cop, that has to suck) and of course- one of the best TV series ever

Liked the first few episodes but it started to lose me when the plot turned (don't want to spoil). Also the main actor is not that great IMO.
This season 3 of "PokerFace" (Paramount?) was about to lose me at about the same point then it got real good.

"Smoke".. I came in with baggage re: Jurnee Smollet.. hated the last thing I saw her in, some blackification of HP Lovecraft (though given Lovecraft's blatant racism perhaps it was fitting for his material. But I stuck with "Smoke" anyway and I think it did good.

Someone mentioned "Ballard" above.. a spinoff of "Bosch Legacy" and I suppose "Bosch" as well. The "Bosch" series were great. I have to say Ballard is losing me fast. It seems to be more about "feelings" rather than facts and crime. Given that the source material is by the same author, I have to wonder who is calling the shots on this series. Why does it have to be so different just because the lead character is female? She is still a cop and detective. They cast her basement cold case team for diversity. It is as if this show is serving THAT diversity story rather than interesting criminal investigations.

I compare "Ballard" to "Bosch" above.. but maybe mentioning "The Residence" would be good as well. It is like an Agatha Christie of Miss marple kind of mystery based around an investigation at the White House. The main character is that actress who played "Krazy Eyes" in "Orange is the New Black". The fact that she and other characters were black or gay or diverse in any way had nothing to do with the story. The story was well served. For what the type of show it was it came off very well.

But perhaps, like "Pokerface", "Ballard" may become better. I'll give it a little more time.

Just finished watching Hostage on Netflix. I liked it but was a little underwhelmed by the ending. 5 episodes not long ones either.

Not a binge show but I get feeds all the time with barstool owner Dave P’s pizza reviews.
I will watch them but more for tge entertainment of how full of himself he is as well as he actually influences so many.
I recently was in one of my favorite pizza places in NJ. We ate there. And as we were eating our pie- I literally saw two separate tables where a guy in his 20’s actually lifted his slice to look at the bottom of the pie. One of the guys actually even took a first bite like normal but 2nd bite at the crust.

my take- if someone didn’t fold tge slice properly to eat it- they have no credibility. Dave can go back to New Haven. lol

I have also never seen so many pizza places serve well done pies as a norm.
Got to give him credit though- he has 20-30 something’s all thinking they know how to eat pizza and what is good or not

I actually started three then realized I forgot everything that happen in two and started two over again. Yes, the jump from one to two leaves a time gap of wtf happened during the war it was over before you know it.

Watching The Beast in Me, episode 4 got me interested, through 5 episodes so far.

Just saw Homeland is now available on Netflix. One of my top 3 series of all time.
Wasn't Homeland one of the shows that had a great first and second season and they went into the crapper? Walking Dead was definitely like that.

Death by Lightning

the story of james garfields rise to presidency and subsequent asasination.

thought it excellent
4 parts ..not a bingeable candidate.. BUT.. I loved it. Learned A LOT. Has plenty of relevance to today. Jersey connections. Actors who worked together on boardwalk empire plus other great ones. Outstanding mini series.
It really true..tragic and a big loss.

Btw..never watched Boardwalk Empire and just finished season 2. Very good. Steve Bushemi is excellent. As are all the old school jersey features.

Ps. The nudity and sex is both nice and yet disturbing on the rights and abuse front. As is the racism. But I much appreciated the efforts to overcome such abuse.

Finished The Beast in Me. Enjoyed it. Claire Danes plays a great neurotic. Mathew Rhys was great in the role. Actually the acting was pretty good from all the main characters.

Watching Claire Danes for more than 20 minutes makes ME want to check into a Psych ward. I loved Homeland but she sure as hell made it a challenge the last season of it.

Not a fan of Michael Shannon in anything.

Was looking forward to this. Disappointed to see he was the lead.

Spent a little time in Southport (filmed there) last Feb. when we were down there. Also the spot where that shooting took place a few months back (we eat at the restaurant right next door).

speaking of leads that are like watching paint dry...surprised nobody has mentioned Task with Mark Ruffalo. HBO. 9 episodes I think and built up nicely from slow start. Set up for anther season I'm sure.

Story of my life
I do much better binge watching shows with many episodes and has several seasons
If there A gap to a new season I often watch some of the last episode seen

Moral is, don't get old

Another season? They closed every single storyline. It's one season only like Mare of Easttown. Same creator.

Lead from Task Tom Pelphrey is a Rutgers grad.

I was the opposite, liked it early, thought it went astray late.

Once they killed the one guy it was over. The best character on the show by far.

I thought she was fine in Homeland.

But thought she was way over the top in Beast. The director is at blame here as well, as whoever should have reigned it in.

She played the lead in a movie on Temple Grandon and I thought she was bad in that as well. So there is a couple roles where I thought she was a negative.

Yeah you got me to re-watch the last 10 mins again. Must have confused it with another. But "ANOTHER TASK" would be a great name for sequel :)

Just finished Black Rabbit on Netflix. It starts out a little slow, but gets good in the 3rd episode. Stars Jason Bateman. If you liked Ozark, you'll like this.
