Official game day thread- Duke vs UNC II

Season finale, curtain call.. end of RJ Davis who is now 3rd in ACC scoring all time (what a joke) anyway… Can we shut the door on the Tar Heels ncaa hope? Can we lock up the regular season crown? Can we lock up what would be the most wins in ACC regular season history? Lock up a 1 seed? Potentially be #1 Monday? Lots of story lines in what will be a fun game- we are currently a 10.5 point favorite.

So much at play against the Cheats. They'll be fired up even more for senior day. Jump on them early and don't let them gain confidence especially from 3. Rebound and don't pick up stupid fouls. I'm sure they will be getting a favorable whistle at home.

Hard to imagine them losing this game. Also hard to believe that they would be the 3 seed if they lose and Clemson and Louisville win.

I expect UNC to come out hot and it will be a tight first 30 mins with Duke pulling away in the final 10. Flagg with a quiet first half and 20 points in the second half. Barring an absolutely atrocious shooting night we win by 15.

I do love the overwhelming confidence some of you guys have though. I’ll feed off that and will happily eat crow if we win by 30!!!

As Pisgah stated, a lot on the line in this game. For North Carolina, Unc has to either 1) win this game and/or 2) win the ACC Tournament next week to Earn a bid for the NCAA Tournament so the heels will be giving it their all. Duke is also playing for a lot, 1) ACC Regular Season Championship, 2) #1 Seed in the ACC Tournament, 3) #1 Seed in the NCAA Tournament, 4) Regular Season Sweep of their arch rivals.

I Trust Duke's Coaching Staff has made it a point of Emphasis to shut down Unc's 3 point shooting in tonight's game and Duke will Force the heels to "try" and score on them inside the paint.

The first 12 minutes of the game will be telling. If unc is down by double digits at that point of the game, then it'll be game over for unc. The tarheels are not a team that comes back from huge deficits.

I see Duke winning by at least 15 points tonight. Duke puts on a shooting clinic with a lot of action in the half court set. Duke has a balanced attack with all 5 starters notching at least 12 points, Evans goes for 15 points, Ngongba and Gillis each score at least 8 points.

From this point onward Duke will be playing against teams who are playing for their NCAA Tournament Lives. Duke Needs to Bring the Intensity and Focus Every Single Game.

I expect a closer game than last time, but we're a nightmare match-up for them.

Their 6-game winning streak adds some concern for me... and yet... of the 6 teams they've beaten in that streak, all in the ACC, every one of them is at least 3 games below .500 in conference, and only 2 of them have an overall record of .500+.

This game always scares me. It could go either way but I think Duke wins by 10+. I just don’t see unc stopping them. Duke has gotten better since the first meeting. Like Datt said Unc’s win streak is against bad teams.

He's not wrong though. The fact that 6 of their losses are to top 10 teams is why they are possibly getting in. I do think they need to win a few games in the ACC tournament. Beat us and they are in but I doubt that happens.
I just read Evans is averaging 15 points a game the last 5 games.
Brown listed as questionable.

Unc will get the benefit of the doubt for ncaa tournament just due to their name. As much as dislike unc and the lack of class their fan base possesses, we would get the same treatment. That being said, espn is just trying to hype this game up and I don’t see how unc makes it to tournament after they lose tonight.

If Duke beats unc tonight, Duke will move to the Overall #1 seed for the NCAA Tournament

I have pregame jitters. Running out for some hotdogs and coors light. Hoping that helps. :)

Gonna miss the first half, dinner with in-laws. Hoping to sit down at start of the second with a comfortable lead.

Exactly the start I thought it would be . Davis is going to his bench early hoping to wear down the backcourt and Powell on Kon is a smart move

The way it feels, it's like Duke is behind. But somehow, they continue to sneakily add a point or so to their lead.

Might be worth closing out the hot 3pt shooters.....that should have been on the scouting report....switching Malauch onto a PG isnt going to work either.

The game is good . Just like we thought . UNC is attacking and has Flagg with 2 fouls . Good game .
