I thought that it was unlikely that Cano would contribute, but admire AA for giving it a shot. My ideal signing would be Whit Merrifield of the Royals. He's a good 2B and he's from North Carolina with a manageable salary. He can also play right field and left

Ian Anderson pitched six innings. Scoreless. Only one hit and one walk with nine strikeouts. Wow!
Just when we're ready to ship him off in a trade, or down to Gwinnett right???!!! Amazing Ian came back with such a strong outing under so much pressure to produce!

We're in another position to sweep a series today. Doesn't seem like we've done too well in that regard lately. Let's just hope we get some runs and let Max do his job. (Fried takes the bump today).

Keep hitting that longball men(Contreras hit 2 of our 3 dingers in the win last nite.) Late relief has been a concern in recent games. Jansen hurt his back Friday, but should be back today. OFC

What a break for the Braves in the ninth. Kenley Jansen is so slow to the plate. It looked like a stolen base for Arizona with two outs but the runner slid past the bag and Swanson tagged him out

It was a good call. I might not have called it. He had the base stolen. Only slid past by an inch

I would vote Riley for MVP today as well. I googled the MVP race and covers.com ( not the greatest source) has Goldschmidt as the favorite followed by Freeman ,Machado, Betts, Alonso, Trea Turner and then Riley at 20 to 1 odds. If I could really get 20:1 on Riley, I would bet a ton

Vegasinsider.com was updated today. Goldschmidt is the heavy MVP favorite. Freeman and Riley are tied for second favorite at 8:1 each

Spencer Strider is the favorite for rookie of the year and Michael Harris is second favorite

Mets are listed with a 70% chance to win the East and Braves are at 30%

Good to get the sweep. Much needed to keep within sniffing distance of the Mets(3 back), and maintain a healthy (6.5 games) lead on Phillies.Braves retain a hold on top wildcard spot as well.

Riley continues to get overlooked. Easy Player of Month pick for July, .425/11/25 for month may finally convince the same doubters who wanted to leave him off All-Star roster. Thank God Snit was coaching!

Although we only scored 1 run yesterday it was refreshing NOT to see Ozuna in the line-up. Geez I wish we could find another home for him.

Even without Ozuna playing, we still need to boost our hitting to go along with our stellar pitching. Bottom five in order went 0-13 yesterday.

Still, we seem to find a way to win (Riley's put us on his back lately), and it's all about Ws and Ls. Off today, then Philly comes in for two. From there it's off to the Mets. Thurday's game with New York starts a 15 game stretch, 9 of which are vs the Mets!!!

Looks like Grossman will be a good platoon guy with Rosario. His splits are pretty extreme. He hasn't made an error in like 400 games. I think Odorizzi is insurance for Anderson or Morton if needed. Not a terrible SP. Houston just didn't have room for him. They were already going with 6 SP and 1 coming off IL. Odorizzi was odd man out.

Phillies scratched their starting pitcher, Gibson, because he is attending his grandmother's funeral. Tomorrow Philadelphia is pitching a bullpen game. Sorry for the Gibson family. Strider pitching for the Braves

A quick hook by the Phillies manager. Pitching change with Phillies leading 1-0 in the 3rd. Pitcher looked fine to me. Hit Harris on the foot and walked Acuna and pulled

Did seem like a "quick hook" ged. Hey but those Braves bats really caught fire later! What a nite for Rosario, and was that Ozuna getting 3 hits out there a mirage? Gained a game on Mets too! 2.5 games back! OFC

deGrom looked unhittable early for the Mets and the Nationals hit some really good pitches later. I'm sure it's a weight off the Nationals knowing that Soto is gone and they have to perform without him

deGrom was hitting 102 at the knees. Incredible

Last night was the Phillies bullpen game. Wheeler pitching today. Last night I was shocked when they pulled the pitcher early but he was only supposed to go through the batting order once

The Charlie Morton hard slurve is unhittable by righties today. It's breaking so hard that it would hit a lefty and he's throwing it a little differently to them

They just pulled him after 101 pitches. Just gave up a single on a good pitch. Only gave up 3 hits in 6.2 innings. Leads 1-0

McHugh was almost out of the 8th unscathed. Double play called on the field correctly reversed to safe at first. Then a fat pitch for a HR to dead Center. Phillies up 3-1

We're wounded, but still a CHANCE. Down 6-4, headed to top of 8th!!! "Keep The Faith!"

Game one of a huge five game series w/the Mets. Braves scrap back from a 5-0 deficit, and brought the tying run to plate in 9th with one on board.Weak grounder ends the game, as Atlanta falls 6-4.

We fall to 4.5 games back. We need to take minimum of 2 of next 4 to not fall further back.
