Thought I'd start this. Duke trailing Kansas 24-21 at the half. I cheer for Duke but my football teams are Notre Dame and UCLA. My school, St. John's, no longer has a team. Notre Dame had a statement win today over Wisconsin in Chicago. My UCLA Bruins need to win today against Stanford to avoid being, well the Bruins after a bad loss to Fresno St. last week. Nothing much of note this week so far except Texas hanging 70 on TT and Louisville blowing out Florida State. Clemson and NC State are tied 7-7 in the 3rd. Clemson looks very average so far without Lawrence. FSU just scored it's now 31-20.

Wake should be ranked this week. Michigan Rutgers is close...7 points. Hoping Rutgers can win. Duke now up 15. Clemson NC State going to OT.

Nice win for Duke even though it was KU. I feel we should have scored two more times and KU should have score two less times but I'm happy. The cheaters next week. I wonder if Howell has had the chicken pox yet? Do people still get chicken pox? :) OFC

State wins. Clemson loses. The Clemson receiver didn't try to catch the ball on the final play. Bizarre. FG tryouts for State on Monday
Clemson looked very blah on offense. They are not through losing for the season, I think they will drop a couple more. Wonder who will step up and win the ACC this year. State maybe , although I doubt it. Just not the Holes.

I guess kids still get chicken pox?. I never hear about it. If you don't get chicken pox as a child, you're more likely to get a rough case of Shingles as an adult

Georgia Tech hits Howell on every play. He's coughed up two fumbles. Somehow, he never gets hurt

Did any of you just see that play GT/cheater? Replay shows the G.T. runner never was down. There was no doubt about it. The refs blew the whistle but the runner went in for the T.D. The refs called the ball back. Don't tell me that was the right call. G.T. got screwed big time but of course it goes the cheaters way. If the cheaters come back and win that officiating crew should not be paid for this game and suspended for the next. Even if G.T. holds on for the win they should be suspended. You make things right. Maybe someone should check and see how many of these refs attended cheater u or a fan of them. Pisses me off big time. OFC

I've never been embarrassed and ashamed of my college team until tonight. Mack Brown can recruit, but not coach at all. Just pitiful

Maybe maybe not, but I’d wager that it’s never been harder to keep cfb players motivated and focused week to week than it is right now

Wow Texas just completely choked against Oklahoma. Syracuse hanging on for dear life against Wake. Florida State up 35 to 17 at North Carolina hahahaha. Arkansas scores and is one point behind against Miss. and then decides to go for 2 on the last play of the game and fails. Yikes.

I can't help but remembering what a heel friend of mine said about four years ago. mack's back and the rest of the ACC better look out. Yep they beat the crap out of us just like theyvwere supposed to do but this team is far from being one of the nation's elite program mack's back or whatever. Guess he needs to get to work on some of those paperless courses and majors open to the entire student body again. OFC

Alabama losing by 7 to A&M but they will probably win by 40. Down 14 at the half. Yikes.

Replay in college football is an embarrassment. I watched at least ten replays today which were called catches on the field, but video showed a drop. In each case, the call on the field of a catch stood. The least egregious was the winning Georgia Tech TD. The receiver was mauled, but I don't believe pass interference was called. The receiver bobbled the ball, and it hit hit the ground for a split second before being controlled. Maybe the referee decided that since a flag wasn't thrown, he would let the catch stand

Duke down 34-0 at the half. Syracuse almost beat Clemson last night, they have lost a few very close games. Florida losing to LSU, they are fading fast. Texas loses to OSU.

Cut and Dino days may be numbered. At least the Orange haven’t quit though. Don’t like what I saw from devils today. Glad osu could hang a loss on ut before they go to sec

Sam Howell is incredibly strong. He gets hit on every play. Partly his fault. Middle of the 3rd quarter, and he's run for 100 yards, but also taken five sacks

Georgia getting some separation. Iowa officially on upset alert. Iowa loses. Vols fans throw a golf ball, full water bottles at Lane Kiffen. Someone could have really gotten hurt.

I feel like we might be coming to a **** or get off the pot time for Duke football, or at least need to be. The Duke AD and admin need to decide "are we going to put a decent product on the field or just quit this embarrassment that we call football now. Duke has had good teams in the past. No reason why they still cannot, but, it will take a lot of commitment on the part of Duke to do that. Starts with hiring a really good young coach, dont ask me who. Plan to spend some money with the thoughts of getting it back down the road. Damn it, Stanford, ND, and some other highly selective schools can do it , so can Duke. I dont mean a national contender, but certainly a competitive team in the division. Guess I am just old enough to remember the back in time teams. Students and fans will begin to support a competitive team. We need butts in the stands to help fund sports that just take and give nothing back in the way of funds.

I agree, hpnole, although I think we reached that point some time last year. But I believe this is going to get resolved soon.
I really hope that you are right. I quit watching Duke football because it was painful to watch. Getting to the same point with the Panthers.

A rather large salary will be rolling off Duke’s athletic budget next year, and I’m sure Coach-to-be Scheyer won’t be getting paid anywhere near that much. That should free up a few dollars for the next FB coach…

How much more than 2.7 million will be needed? I think the bigger problem is going to be to entice an up-and-coming young coach to come to Duke as opposed to wait for a more successful and committed program to open up.

It really depends on which way they decide to go. Young-and-coming up (cheaper) versus established (likely more expensive - Orgeron?).

I do believe that there will be a genuine effort to find a minority candidate, which would likely mean the young-and-coming up route, and provide a much wider net.

I dont think anyone has a problem with a minority candidate, as long as he is the best. There have got to be a number of them out there. They (we) will have to be somewhat patient with whoever also. This program is about to the point of rebuilding from scratch. Get a good young coach who can then hire good assistant coaches, and who can also recruit. Damn , that about covers every thing on our wishlist, I guess. I can always dream.

Our incoming recruits are not exactly empty cupboard guys. But we need to keep them, and coach them as well as our current players up.

Michigan up 10-0 on MSU. Wolverines are for real. I think they make the playoff, but they must beat OSU. Miami up 21-10 on Pitt. Notre Dame UNC later. Go Irish!

Pitt must be having let down after big win last week. Wolves could still blow thus one not a believer yet. Cincinnati impressing no one so far today against the Green Wave. Go Devils! Go Irish!

I had hopes that Cinn. might make the playoffs after their win over ND. I have watched them a couple of times, including today. They are not a playoff team. They should be blowing out Tulane. In fact, they have not been impressive since the ND win. Makes me wonder about ND. I keep hoping that UM will win, dont really know why. I just hope someone besides the Suckeyes win the big whatever.
