Fishing although I don’t get to go as often as I’d like, I used to hunt but I haven’t gone hunting in almost 20 years, hanging out with friends when I can. Other than those things I pretty much just hang out at home, mostly due to health/medical issues. I used to collect sports cards when I was a kid that I still have (mostly baseball cards but I also collected other types of cards. Between me and my dad we probably have 100,000+ cards.

One I left out is I used to karaoke a lot. Can’t sing at all, but it’s a blast!! I can’t sing, but I can talk fast, so I do songs like ice ice baby, funky cold Medina, etc......it’s fun and the crowd has fun with it!!

public education (work)

union organizing (work)
parenting 3 (work)
marriage (work)

I'm really lucky b/c my work = my passions.

I had a 10 1/2 year streak of running* every day (*while clothed, NOT streak-running). It ended last July and I haven't found it in me to exercise at all anymore. I'm completely directionless. And I've had, at 46, my first bad year of health, which isn't completely related, but there's some overlap, and it hasn't helped my motivation. By happenstance, I started that streak the day after my Mom's birthday, so her birthday completed each year. My younger daughter's birthday is coming up and I've started focusing on the day after as the beginning of a new streak, so her b-day would be the year-mark. My doctor advised me to start more slowly, but I don't know if I can do it any other way. Maybe this streak will be riding my bike... We'll see.

I’m sorry to hear you’re in a rut of sorts. I had something similar 4 years ago. Poor mental health led to me not working out for a few years. Playing pickup soccer got me back on track. The frustration of not being able to run for goals was a great motivator.

A lot has changed with my wife and I in the past few years. We used to go hiking and shooting a lot, but not anymore. Now we just try to vacation as much as possible.

Other things:
- Binge watch a show on Netflix.
- Gardening. Snow peas, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.
- Baseball games. I don’t follow baseball that closely, but I love going to games. Go to quite a few Mariners games each year. Giants last year. Going to Camden Yard in July.
- Basketball. In my 30s but I still go out and shoot hoops in the Summer and do a (3, 2, 1... countdown).
- Home improvements despite my wife’s objections.
- Like I said, vacations. Love Vancouver Island BC. Want to go to Iceland and Tokyo in the next 5 years. Go to Vegas or Tahoe twice a year.
- Gambling (sports bets, Blackjack, poker, and roulette).

Used to live .3 miles from Camden - you’ll like it. Wife’s company has 1st base, 1st row and we get those about 5x a year.

Just continuing to work on the mancave.

Got a few new bits for the room...

An 1851 Colt Navy repro, and an original 18th century French naval pistol.

Repro British cartridge box for the AWI... love that British seal:)

Some buttons dug up at my family property... ACW era.

And this is on it's way right now in the mail... an 1806 pattern French voltigeur shako.

And some little toy soldiers!

And then some 2k19 on Xbox with a University of Kentucky fan;)

Raising the kids... I don't know if I can count that as a hobby:)

Wow!!! Those are some TOADS!!! My biggest is only 130 class. My all time favorite was the ky wildcat I took with a bow!!
Thank you. I have shot a few bobcat too. They are so darn elusive it's like seeing a yeti when you see one.

Hah! Thanks man! I've spent a lot of years working on my mancave. I'm pretty anal about keeping it beautiful, and I do enjoy occasionally buying stuff for it:) Got my eye on a demilled MG42 and maybe some other WWII stuff, but we'll see about spending that money:)

But if you DO come, I've got snacks covered!:)

BTW, this is one of my best friend's mancave...

I think every gun is original, and every uniform except the AWI one is original too. The Reb jacket and kepi in the photo above are worth a goddamned FORTUNE. My buddy makes a decent living:)

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. This may inspire me to get my massive garage looking like I want it to.

Oh dude, if you have a good space, I can't encourage it enough... there is something just SO satisfying about getting a space exactly how you want it... and as a guy who works, I've always felt that getting one SINGLE room in the entire world that is JUST mine... it's a nice feeling:D

Tongue in cheek, my friend. I'd rather be sippin' bourbon on a boat with you. That's the best setting for reading posts on Rupp Rafters and having a good laugh.

It’s a relaxing place to be for sure. It’s old and nothing fancy by a long shot, but it’s in good shape and it’s on the lake! We are actually considering selling it and our house and buying a bigger, newer one and living on it full time when I retire......but not in Ky

See? By trying not to hurt his feelings, you hurt MY feelings! Sheesh!

:)

You spend your free time mocking Rafters... I spend my free time texting a Kentucky fan!:)
