I'll clarify. Bringing back "hard nosed" D would ruin the game because teams would start running safe running plays.
.
If the D gets to target QBs, WRs, and KRs, then the O should be able to target DLs and LBs when we bring back blocking styles that have been currently banned.
.
People who advocate for this seem to want to see poor young men get mangled, with no thought to skill or strategy.
I still am a little confused. From what I can dissect I don’t think anybody wants anybody to get mangled. We just don’t want a flag for tackling the QB! Lol. The targeting, head to head, etc rules is fine! The lowering the head protecting yourself(RB), and falling on the QB penalty is a no, we don’t want that lol .

Let me see if I can make it easier for ya...
What you want is what the NFL always provided, great entertainment, great hits, YOU GOT JACKED UP, etc.....
That ended up resulting in massive concussion lawsuits, guys killing themselves due to CTE issues, guys in wheelchairs in their mid 30's, MANY retired guys saying they wake up in pain daily and unable to use their brains correctly. Go read about Richie Incognito and his recent story lol.

I get it....I want to be entertained too, but put yourself in the players shoes? Would you want to be able to walk when you are 40 years old or not?

No body gets flagged for tackling a QB. When it is clear that he's thrown the ball, and is no longer doing anything, defenders can't drive through him, slam him down, or try to hurt him. Because that is clearly what you are advocating. Your point, like many points about protecting QBs, is that until the whistle blows he's fair game.
.
Sure it may look like an "accident" when some 300lb DL "falls" into the QB's lower body. That obviously is pure circumstance, with no thought to injuring the other team's QB to get him out of the game? Right? No one would think that.
.
On 95% of the NFL teams, if their starter goes down they are going to lose. Of the remaining 5% they can win thanks to an elite D, an elite OL and RB combo, or because the starter is bad and the back up is only slightly worse and the team gets lucky.

This is the optimistic, benefit of the doubt motivation. I'm less sanguine about the thinking behind current whining about the rules.

Have y’all 2 listened to anything I said, or watched the penalty’s this week for roughing the passer? And where have I said it jacked me up! And crushing the Qb gives me entertainment? And yes if I was in the players shoes I’d guarantee you we would be talking about how all these rules can go to hell! If they voted, I guarantee you 99% would scratch these rules. They’ve said it all over the media. Now the people who’s pockets are getting filled no.... I’m lost. I simply said I didn’t want a penalty from falling on the Qb, and if you watched the replays of the penalty’s you would see why, and yes the majority did get flagged “for just tackling the QB”.... They’re not picking people up and slamming them, etc. I’m lost

(Everybody) well besides you 2, is whining about the rules...becuase they’re stupid, damm near mpossible to follow, inconsistent, and change the outcome of the game. Has nothing to do with safety or “entertainment”

Ipsychosis, I agree with you. All these rules to protect the QB and everyone else has really hurt the game, especially for us old school fans.
I played football through college and every player knows the risk they're taking. Heck, getting behind the wheel of a car is a much bigger risk than playing football, but what do I know. The way it's going, football will probably disappear in about 15 years. Less and less kids are playing in the youth leagues and high school where I live. Getting harder to watch each season. I'm not being sexist, but this female announcer for the Lions and Jets game is down right awful to listen too. The male announcer sucks too.

Yep I did

Lots of people don't understand sarcasm. I will try to dumb down my posts. Will UNCheat reading level be OK? I can probably go a little lower than that if necessary, but IDK how much. I'm sorry for the complicated sentences. I will work on being more inclusive.

I kinda had that thought in my head too about getting rid of football in 20 or so years. They get rid of football, they better get rid of cigarettes! ....bad analogy but you get the point. :)

Well, I will say Romo would give us a better chance to win than Prescott. He’s horrible.
Not sure what’s going on with Prescott! It seems like he keeps regressing each year. Missed a lot of open receivers in that game. Might have to get Romo away from doing Corona commercials and get him back on the field.:D

Yea I hear ya. I don’t know why we don’t throw the ball down field more. It’s gonna be a long season I’m afraid.

The most roughing the passer penalties were called this week since a week in 2001. I fear that this week will be one of the lighter weeks this season. Just wait until there's real sh*t on the line. Dudes want to win, you know?

I agree. Football has changed so much since I started watching it. It's not unrecognizable yet but in the next 20 years, football as we know it will not exist. And who will be playing? Pop Warner is losing participation.

I get it though. I completely understand why it's happening. The NFL cannot sit idly by and watch as players scramble each others' brains. I just don't like what football has become compared to what I used to know it as.

If what we saw on sunday is a harbinger of things to come then yes,its gonna be a long season,10-15 yard passes and screens are not going to get it done.Jerry blew it big time when he passed on Carson Wentz.

Getting rid of one of the best kickers in the NFL was incredibly stupid also. Jerry always blows it. He doesn’t want to spend any money on good players and a lot of coaches and players don’t want to play there or coach there because Jerry runs the show.

Dalton for Dak anyone?? I will drive Dalton all the way to Dallas and pick up Dak.

The Bengals are a QB away from being super bowl contenders.

How bout we work out a 3 way trade? Falcons get Deshaun Watson and you get Ryan???
Haha if Deshaun Watson is in the mix, that's who I want! I loved him in college and hope he dominates the NFL. I don't want "Flat Ryan," but he would still be an upgrade over the Red-Rifle.

His first year was promising. I think he's a born winner and will be a good one.

According to everything and everyone, big asses are all the rage. From Sir Mix a Lot, to the Kartrashians, to the entire rap industry, big buts are in.
.
But nobody has any use for stupid, or for lack of reading comprehension, or for willfully ignoring obvious points.

Linemen. An elite offensive line makes for great QBs, WRs, and RBs. Why else do Bama's skill position players do well behind elite lines, but look so mediocre in the NFL?
