since she enjoys piling on I’m going to voice my opinion on her son (obviously means a lot lol) Marvin Bagley made your son the #7 pick and extra millions of dollars. If Marvin weren’t playing along side your son he would have been exposed as the below average athletic big that he is. I enjoyed watching Wendell play for Duke, but make no mistake about it.... If Wendell was as good as you and he think he is you wouldn’t have given 2 ***** if Bagley was here just as Bagley balled out while sharing the court with your son. Wendell is a great player and will now be remember by an overzealous, helicopter mom who tarnished his name here. Good day.

No he would’ve gotten drafted at the same spot. Numbers would’ve been better though. He’s drafted because of talent and potential

Agree to disagree, but no F’ing way he goes 7 w/o Bagley! No chance! Teams got to use the “he plays with Bagley, we don’t know his true potential” card. W/O Bagley he is who he is.

You're letting your emotions get in the way of reason. There is no need to judge Wendell's talent or to criticize him for your opinion of him being a below average athletic big. Pinning him against Bagley is also not fair. You shouldn't turn your focus to Wendell when he is not the one saying these things, publicly anyways.

I was wondering when we were going to start talking about this btw.

i agree. Wendell went right where he was projected to go prior to coming to duke. He had a great year. He averaged 13.5 and 9. That’s a great season for a Senior. If bolden puts up stats like that we will be singing his praises. Yes without bags he could have averaged 18. It wouldn’t have changed his draft position bc he was never going to be drafted over Ayton, Bags, Luka and Bamba. After that he got lucky porter got hurt, so that makes him sixth at best, and Trae Young got drafted bc it’s a guards league and he played a position that reminded the hawks gm of curry who he drafted in golden state. It all worked out for him exactly how it should have minus maybe a few ppg in his one season of college ball which makes what his mom “allegedly” said (giving Wendell the benefit of the doubt when he said she was taken out of context) just that much more of sour grapes and selfishness. Talking out of both sides of her mouth and she comes away looking foolish. Don’t take it out on Wendell- he did everything he could this year and clearly you could see how much he cared.

To the OP, you certainly have a right your opinion, But my take on things is pretty much in line with Timo0402, I think WC is a heck of a ball player and will do very well in the NBA. His mom and her judgment/comments shouldn’t tarnish what WC brought to DUKE (sweat, heart, tears). Furthermore I’m not sure we can get a full understanding of who he is by just watching him on TV.. Has anyone on this board actually talked to him? Anyways that’s my take on things. I hope he has a great rookie yr and an outstanding NBA career. Go out there and represent DUKE big fella.

Very little emotion about it. Even Jay Bilas said on draft night that athletically Wendell is “below average” good defender but no 2nd jump and not a bouncer off the floor. Maybe that was just emotion from Bilas too?

Where in this post do you express any disagreement with the OP?

I was never challenging your opinion or whether or not you were right or wrong when it comes to evaluating Carter's talent or athleticism. It's the tone bro. I don't believe you would be invested in such opinions had none of this drama existed that originated from a blabber mouthed mother.

All good though. I am moving on from this topic.

Marvin did not make his draft status 7. Without Marvin, Wendell is showcased along with Bolden, Javin and possibly Vrank doing the dirty work. At best, maybe 5, at the lowest 9 if he did not have Marvin.

I just looked at the actual draft order, I can make a legitimate argument that Carter is way ahead of Mo and Jackson Jr. Something that might have held him back from being drafted so high to Memphis and Orlando are his parents...??? Mo is foul prone, forget that wingspan stuff. Jackson is under - developed and would benefit from another year of school. Yes, it might cost him a what it did Bridges and Williams, however, he would go to a team and contribute from day one.

Let's not judge Wendell by what his parents are doing. He's a Dukie. OFC

I believe Wendell was even better than what we saw. He and Bagley couldn't both have the ball at the same time. If Wemdell had been on a team without another stud big, I think he puts up huge numbers

The Carter family is a perfect example of why coaching can be such an awful work environment.

Don't get me wrong...K makes more than enough money to make it worthwhile.

For the rest of us, unrealistic expectations and opinions of your own child can be so mentally draining to deal with.
