Probably wanted to pass Noah for biggest clown on draft night. Although young and those shorts were quite stupid

Sometimes when we think something is dumb, we're right. Sometimes when we think something is dumb, it might be that we just don't get it.

A good rule of thumb is to train yourself to recognize where it might have something to do with cultural differences, and if it is, presume humbly that it's a situation where you just don't get it. Otherwise you risk enforcing supremacist culture, even if you didn't mean to. At the very least, it's disrespectful.

Trae Young's suit? Dumb. Wendell's? No.

Yeah, Wendell looked bad... I did flash back to the King in Coming to America... If he puts his work in he in he will have a long and successful NBA career in spite of whatever that was over his suit... But yes, He looked way better than Trae Young!!!

Now what gives you the right to call Traes outfit dumb? Maybe you don't understand his cultural differences. Maybe you just don't get it. He may have Bahamian ties. LOL. Let's all quit trying to be so damn politically correct around here. If you think it looked dumb, it's your God given right to say so. If you disagree say it and move on. It's the NBA draft, wear a nice sharp suit. No need to dress up like a freaking super hero. And that's just my own opinion. opinions vary. I thought the 3 worst getups were Trae, Wendell and the dude with his Moms curtains sewn up into a suit. Doesn't mean I dislike the players, I love Wendell . Just an observation.

Trae Young was about to rock, and I salute him. He'd been thunder struck. The first lady he meets in the NBA will be told, love me for the money. And she will have shook him all night long.
And its a shame I can't figure out how to attach ACDC pictures because I found one of the lead singer with the exact same outfit, lol.

The bold would imply that what I said wasn't genuine and doesn't have any merit.

Ever hear of Indian Schools, show? That started with the basic premise that our way was better than their way, and that we'd back our opinion by force. It's an extreme example, but sometimes that's what it takes to impress a point upon someone. Is condemnation of Indian Schools today just "political correctness"?

What you have the right to say and what you should say aren't always exactly the same, and what you have the right to say doesn't mean you're immune from consequences. Take me, for example: I have the right to say what I said. You have the right to say back to me what you said. Note that I'm not whining about it; I'm coming back at you b/c the whole I idea of saying your peace and "moving on" is based on the idea that words have no consequences. If we're talking Team Ranch v Team Bleu Cheese, sure. Where we're talking something that chips away at respect and equity -- particularly with groups who've traditionally and historically been oppressed and still struggle w/ such issues today -- agreeing to disagree can translate into accepting lower status.

If by "politically correct" you mean I choose my words carefully, you bet I do. I was deliberate in not accusing anyone of being a racist for hatin' on a black dude's black-inspired attire; I parsed it as "we" b/c I'm not immune to similar missteps if I'm not careful; I'm responding thoroughly, patiently, and politely to you right now.

Further, I don't think I've posted here in over a week before today, so I don't really know what others have been posting in the interim, but my single post doesn't qualify as the political correctness run amok you seem to be implying.

And @Showenuff , there are several references comparing what he wore to a really, really funny, but also culturally tone deaf Eddie Murphy movie. Surely you recognize that imitating other people's accents can be a bit inappropriate at times, yes? Or using their culture as punchlines?

Hey I liked black panther too. I also like bravehart but I will never ever wear a kilt
I'd feel weird wearing a kilt, too, and my peeps are more Scottish than anything. I suspect you understand kilts as tradition, though, and when you do see them, you "get it." We should be mindful of that when it's something we're less culturally familiar with.

Seriously, I intended on making that one post and letting it go. Previous experience notwithstanding, I am bewildered that I'd get flak over that.

LOL you get flak because everything isn’t political. We think he looked silly that has nothing to do with PC crap. Nobody likes everything being turning into somethings it’s not by Some SJW just lighten up and stop

Great movie btw
At this point I kind of suspect you're trolling, but I'll play along a little further...

Yes, it's a funny movie, as I've already acknowledged. I like it and I don't take it too seriously. You recognize, though, that if someone from, say, Nigeria or Mali or Tanzania or some other African country took umbrage at it, you'd respectfully allow the conversation topic to change, yes?

Again, "PC crap" implies that I'm not sincere, which is no way to get out of this discussion amiably. Calling me a "SJW" is also a pretty terrible way to get me to "lighten up." I've been polite. I'd appreciate it if that were reciprocated.

You
don't think it's political, and that's fine. You don't get to determine what others consider political/cultural, etc, and I humbly proposed a different perspective on it. No one is turning anything into something it's not when they're sharing their sincere opinion of something.

It sounds like you and show aren't willing to accept that worldview beside your own, or to acknowledge that in certain situations maybe it ought to take priority over your own worldview. Perhaps that's not fair to say about show. I'll have to see if/how he responds.

hahah. Oh Dat , I love you dude. I knew I'd get you all fired up with a novel come back. You turned it towards the 'black" thing, I wasn't even referencing that, I just thought the scarf looked dumb. I agree we shouldn't have a thread called Carter looks like a fool though, poor taste. Pisgah, I say we wear kilts to ctc.
