Gotta give credit where due, Roy has those kids dialed in. They are Vets and it’s showing.

We can bash our own all day long, but I walk away thinking most of our struggles were UNC created.

Here’s to hoping they lose two more soon

The scary thing is their defense is sticking strong at the right time and have a legit chance at repeating with no where near the talent.

I give it to UNC and I do see them beating Virginia tomorrow

Agreed. Never felt UNC lost their composure or got too high even with that large lead and in such games that can be the difference.

Very smart and fundamental team. The perfect kryptonite to our uber skilled young rotation this season.

Show, I appreciate your optimism. Everyone have a good night, the sun will come in the morning. These boys are going to give us a great ride these next 3 weeks and we will be glad we have these talented freshmen and the G.O.A.T

I don’t get it considering how bad they can look during the year. But senior guards can take you a long way.

My head is up, but could be higher. Allen’s total lack of poise is not good. Damn that game was ours to steal. Allen literally did everything possible wrong late. Total head scratcher that he takes that last shot.

They’re an experienced team. It’s not a surprise to me how well they’re playing at the right time.

I love Allen, but he will go through stretches like tonight where he won't look for his shot, and then make a few bad decisions. It's magnified when Duval is bad too.
The point guard spot, as we all are seeing, is where the game is won or lost. Your point guard can't have 0 points and 5 turnovers. He did have 7 assists, but 0 points out of a guy as athletic as him is really bad. Then when your team needs good decisions the most, the only guy with tournament experience can't be the one who makes bad ones.

Duval's offensive struggles are compounded because we have 2 classic Bigs. It wouldn't be so bad if we had a stretch 4, for example Ryan Kelly.

I don't think allowing Bagley to attempt more 3's is the answer, we simply must hope Duval hits his stride in our expected 2 Blowouts in the opening week of the NCAAT.

Lately, no matter what their talent level UNC seems to peak at the right time for a long tourney run...

When Bagley and Carter both shoot the 3 I cringe.

Duvall was on one leg. That hurt us big time on both ends of the floor. He had no auickness/explosiveness, which is his game. How many tip outs and loose balls did UNC get that he would have gotten to? If you watch replays of the previous UNC game, his rotations in the zone were huge. Without him scoring a point, with the same # of turnovers, we win by 5 or more if he was not hurt.

Did you watch the first 7:00 of the game? We had like 1 point for a long time. We cut the lead twice when we were down 15. Defense is, was, and always will be the key to winning games. You have to limit the TOs. Duval needs to let his game come to him

UNC seemed to dominate most of the game, yet this Duke team seems like they can turn it on like a light switch when they desire. The 13-0 stretch at the end was HUGE, as was the stretch at end of first half. (except for the buzzer beater that gave them momentum.)

Duval's injury may not have affected the outcome, yet he was obviously hurting when he came back. I think we were down 4-1 and on a fast break when he went down. He goes to the bench and BAM, its 15-3. Regardless we need him 100% like he was at Cameron in the win last week!

Overall I agree w/Coach K: too many turnovers, not enough rebounding. The only thing I disagree with him on is the defensive performance. He said holding UNC to 74 "is good." I agree in principle, but in a game where your offense is pretty dreadful, I think your defense can carve out a win. It just appeared UNC had much easier shots inside the zone, and we had to work much harder for our points.

I still think this team can win it all if we're healthy and on the same page. Coach K is the G.O.A.T and he can really use this game as a learning experience for our team. He will.

And yet that's literally the last learning experience we can have the whole season if we don't want it to end early. If we don't learn from it the season will be over and that's not a "the sky is falling" response like half these people on the board are giving these days. One more loss and we're literally done.

Mike I totally agree buddy....I thought about that, but I have seen K battle back BEFORE in March. I remember the '91 team was EMBARRASSED by UNC in Charlotte in the ACCT final. We went all the way, and I was convinced that team wouldnt make it to the Final Four, much less take down UNLV. I know, a different time my friend- and Laettner, Hurley, Hill, etc. Just not giving up. OFC

People need to lay off Duval. I am shocked he even came back in the game. The guy has showed a ton of heart and effort all year. His whole game is based off his explosiveness and athleticism and he was clearly hobbled. As was Carter. If you want to be pissed be pissed at the senior leader that swung momentum to UNC with the stupid half court hip check. I have no idea what to expect in the NCAAs, but I know Carter and Duval don't need to play another game today. They need to rest.

When I checked the final score I was shocked. Given that we had to pull away from Miami and Duke’s dominance of Notre Dame, I didn’t have a good feeling for this one. And I was happy to be wrong lol.

I think someone on here summed it up pretty well, that Carolina’s experience and grit was a perfect counterweight to the overwhelming amount of talent Duke has. We played well enough and made enough plays, and the defense caused 18 turnovers. We also had a +6 margin in offensive rebounds.

Nice to get to the win. But we all know which tournament matters most. And I can’t wait to see how things end up.

I will say it again, the Duval kid is a talented player but badly needs to come back to school.

If K thought our defensive performance was a good one, it highlights a significant part of our problem. UNC got anything they wanted in our zone. You double up on Bagley's side and pass it under the basket (Bagley is *always* about 10ft out from the rim) or pass it into the center of the zone for an open jumper.

He doesn’t need to come back. He’s going to be a top-20 pick and an NBA offense caters to his game more, too. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t someday carve out a pretty nice role in the NBA.

UNC is a good team. Leadership, seniors and great guards are lethal in college basketball. Their chances to be in the Final Four are as good as any other team in the country.

Terrible post.

Nah, I’m just giving you a hard time CB34.
Your buddy Ticket has officially earned the position of most annoying UNC fan on this board. He’s been in hiding since Duke beat UNC last week. To your credit, you didn’t run and hide like him.

I was hoping like hell yall were gonna end up on UVA’s side of the draw. I was satisfied when we had earned the regular season split. Would have loved to see how the game turns out last night if Duval doesn’t get hurt. Doesn’t really matter though now. Y’all won.

I think there are around 6-7 teams that could win it all this year. Carolina and Duke are two of them. And when either team is dialed in they’re very hard to beat.

As much as people talk crap about ole Roy, when it comes to the big dance he has has been the best coach for the ACC since being at UNCheat. 3 nattys and several deep runs. Not a bad resume since being at the hell
