Gary7's head is going to explode with Joel Berry not on the list.
I think Grayson was an All-American after his soph year, so he would have already met that qualification. So does this mean Grayson can get his jersey retired? I'm confused again on the requirements but I know making one of the All-American teams was one right?

There is no higher honor than having your basketball number and jersey retired, and 13 times Duke University has done just that. The names reverberate in prestige — Shane Battier, Johnny Dawkins, Danny Ferry, Mike Gminski, Dick Groat, Art Heyman, Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, Christian Laettner, Jeff Mullins, J.J. Redick, Jason Williams and Shelden Williams. So does this mean Grayson can get his jersey retired? I'm confused again on the requirements but I know making one of the All-American teams was one right?
Let's see: Bagley is ACC POY; FOY, 1st Team All-American, ACC and All-ACC Academic.
Anyone hating on this kid is truly a HATER!
Truly a blown All-American....
NoNo Wendell? I know tough to get 3 guys on that list but based on solely this year I am finding a spot for Wendell and removing Grayson.
I still think we're better without him. I'd bench him and see what happens.

@sheyduke is so butthurt right now...I still think we're better without him. I'd bench him and see what happens.

I can't find a link anywhere, but I thought the requirements were 2 All-American teams, and 1 of those had to be a 1st-teamer, which Grayson hasn't gotten to. I'm not 100% on that though. Another requirement is to "set a Duke record."So does this mean Grayson can get his jersey retired? Hold up! Grayson over Wendell. How in the hell that happened?
Also, Wendell was rightfully ahead of Grayson when it came to voting for ACC teams, because frankly, Wendell had the better ACC season. Seems like the voting lately really only takes into account what you did "in the conference season." See Devonte Graham winning POY in the Big12 over Trae Young as the best example of this.Equity. And that's not meant to mean I think it's right, but it certainly plays a part. Grayson, despite some of his difficulties, is one of the faces of college basketball. Right or wrong, that carries weight. I'm a little surprised not seeing Joel Berry on one of those lists, too.

Grayson's overall numbers weren't too bad. He gets some benefit for probably not just the Michigan St game, but the stretch while Bagley was out. Also, if you took him off the team, we probably finish no better than 4th-6th in the conference. Maybe the guys voting saw the whole picture, and how valuable he was for Duke. Also, Wendell was rightfully ahead of Grayson when it came to voting for ACC teams, because frankly, Wendell had the better ACC season. Grayson had a better November than Wendell, National awards take in the whole season. That MSU game was probably Grayson's biggest reason for getting the National 3rd-team over Wendell.
Some are more reputable than others. "Consensus" AA is for guys who make, like, every list. This may be a stupid question, but which All-American list is the "official" list? I know that every year, multiple publications like The Associated Press and Sporting News put out their list which often differs from each other. Just something I've wondered since G's sophomore year when we was listed as a 2nd team All-American in some publications and a 3rd team in others.
