I think that Pinson will play in the NBA. He is gifted physically and does of lots a things well.
The limiting factor is the way he thinks. He doesn't know how good he truly ought to be every game, thus, the inconsistency. That may be a maturity issue that he can grow out of with a little more age.

I never once mentioned Rivers' NBA Career. I said it was a faulty comparison, but I didn't elaborate. That was simply a false conclusion on your part.
But for the record, Rivers was 1st-Team All ACC. Pinson is a good player, but he's never going to be an all-conference type player. He's Honorable Mention All-Conference, best-case scenario. It's tantamount to me saying Lance Thomas had a better college career than Harrison Barnes - or Brian Zoubek over Brice Johnson.
And you seriously think Pinson is living up to his billing? He is literally the only player in the top 20 of the RSCI rankings who is still playing college basketball. The 19 other guys have all played some time in the NBA. Career averages of 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists isn't what one would expect from your typical 5-star recruit.
Yep - summed that up perfectly. Although to be fair, Theo was hurt freshman year but still hasn't lived up to his ranking. I mean how many 5 star recruits don't automatically play 25+ minutes though? I think I said this earlier but honestly if he was averaging like 13 pts, 7 reb, 4.5 assists that would be living up to his ranking. He's not a scorer obviously but is a swiss army knife.
I was surprised he was ranked so highly coming out of HS just because it was clear his offensive game would struggle to translate. Overall he's been a pretty solid player for UNC, especially the past two years. His freshman and sophomore years he was stuck behind more talented players.
You mentioned him being the only top 20 guy left in college and I was interested in that. Some of these dudes made some poor decisions lol. Pinson was ranked #15 overall - 12 of the 14 guys ahead of him per 247 rankings are in the NBA. Daniel Hamilton (#17), Devin Robinson (#18), and James Blackmon Jr (#20) have made some questionable decisions to leave early. I will say that in all honesty I believe that if Theo went to say Uconn, Florida, or IU he would've played a lot more his first two years which would've potentially made him develop faster and leave.
What will keep Pinson from playing 1 minute in the NBA is probably the same thing that kept Justin Jackson in school for 3 years - no jump shot (in Jackson's case, more like inability to make 3s). Well that and the good ol' Roy developmental program. Jackson finally did his junior year and left. Pinson has had 4 years to develop a shot and hasn't - that ship has probably sailed.
Athletic guys who can defend have a place in the NBA if they are also huge (can rebound) or can shoot. Pinson doesn't fit that. I seriously cannot think of a player in the NBA (who is not a better shooter) that compares well with Pinson.

Tony Allen and Andre Roberson are the only guys who come to mind, as far as wings that can't shoot. I will say, though, that Roberson was a monster on the boards in college.
Pinson is a great athlete with no jumper, the NBA still has room for these guys, but the numbers get smaller and smaller each year. In the new NBA, a 3 point shot is becoming a requirement.
I'd bet that Pinson never makes it in the NBA, there's a chance, but there will be 10 Theo Pinson's (athletes with no jumpshot) trying to make say 2 total roster spots, the numbers will be against him. His game is similar to Winslow's (Winslow way more advanced for his age, obviously) and Justise has had a hard time putting it together in the Association, given that he can't shoot.

Yeah I agree he's not an NBA player. I just feel like some team will draft him late late 2nd round because of his athleticism
I think he'll get a tryout (not drafted) with a team because of his athleticism. And he won't stick because of his shooting.
Yeah the only reason I think he would be drafted late late 2nd is because of guys like JP Tokoto being picked like #57
Pinson is athletic, but he's not freaky athletic like JP Tokoto or KJ McDaniels. That being said, I think he has a better shot at the NBA than Joel Berry.
There are a ton of players who have played or presently play in the league that were college glue guys...aka...Lance Thomas. Lance will be in the league 10 years...
To me pinson is unc's glue. Plays hard and smart. That's what hanging around 4 years can do for you. I would even like to have him at Duke. If I had a choice to sit one unc player for the rest of the year it would be pinson. Not sure what kind of NBA player he would be. I know this is odd coming from me but it's my opinion. With that said I hope he has a turble rest of the season like the rest of the heels without injury. OFC
Really? Didn't Duke offer him out of HS too? Surprised he picked UNC then but maybe just bonded with the guys better and liked the chapel hill atmosphere better. Seems like he's having a lot of fun at UNC though - can't fault him for his decision at all haha

I understand the joke but players go to class, albeit just don't pay attention. I hate to break it to you but I have some classes with guys on the Duke football and basketball teams and they always come but sit in the back with a hoodie on most of the time and don't pay attention and rotate who takes notes for that day
This is the kind of stuff that has people doubting you really being a Duke fan. QC knows players at unc go to class. He knows all athletes, especially ones who are locks to be drafted don't always really care about the education side of college. It's a joke. A typical rubbing against a rival, but you seem to come to UNC's defense every time something negative is said about them. You defend them more than any "Duke fan" I have ever seen. I don't care who your are a fan of and don't have anything personal against you, but if you don't get why being so defensive about every joke made about unc gets the comments to, and about you that it does, then wow.

QC made a joke about unc players not going to class and you had to clarify that they do, and also turn it around on Duke players not paying attention.
