6:05 into the game he has 8 points on 3 baskets. He scored 1 more point in 33:55.
He did have 6 assists distributing the ball. As a freshman and as a sophomore he would drive the ball hard to the basket forcing the other team to foul him.
Certainly he should feed the bigs when they are open but this team needs him to stay aggressive on offense the whole game.
I think having 4 different teams in 4 years has really taken a toll on him.
Nonetheless I wish he would take more shots plus get to the line more by driving the ball.

I agree with u saying he needs to be more selfish but the 4 teams in 4 years is non sense. If u r a baller u go out and do what u need to do to get the job job and Grayson simply isnt doing that. Step up and do what it takes to get the W's...he simply isnt doing that.

I think Grayson is the 800 pound gorilla in the room. :(

For the life of me I cannot figure out what is up with him. I would assume K asked him to step up and be the senior leader, K's big into leadership, right? And it sure seemed early on he embraced that role. Recently he has seemed lost more often than not on the court. Shooting slumps happen, I have no issue there. But his effort seems sporadic. I was so pleased to see him come out last night looking for his shot. Then, halfway thru the first half his whole demeanor changed. Other than some assists in the second half he just faded away.

So what's going on? Is he injured again and the staff is keeping it quiet? Is just just lost among the freshman? Would he rather be a in a supporting role rather than a sole senior leader? Is there something else going on? I think there is.

I want nothing but the best for the kid, and I absolutely feel for him.

I feel really bad for Allen....Hindsight being 20/20 he should have left after his Sophmore year....I don’t think anyone would have predicted he would struggle this bad......

I'm tired of everyone making excuses for Grayson to be honest. The guy is a senior, he needs to figure it out. I still believe in him, but this struggle has gone on long enough. If he isn't scoring, he is a net negative, because his defense hurts us.
It's obvious his game is affected when he has to run point, I say we no longer let Grayson run point, lets see what Goldwire can do for 10 min a game.

Freshman walls are accept. Senior walls shouldn’t exist. This dude hit a brick wall as soon as ACC started. Every other player is giving you what you expected from him before the season. Duval is scoring 11 and leading the league in assists. Trent is a knockdown shooter. The big men dominate down low. Grayson???? He was supposed to be the second best player and best shooter. He’s neither. Hell right now he may be our 4th best scorer and damn near worse player in the starting lineup. We have to be hard on him because he’s the senior.

I may get some crap for this but here goes..

We all know Grayson has had his antics and bad decisions in the heat of the moment. Also, we all know that Grayson has been a straight up baller. I feel like Grayson is worried about keeping himself in check. To not let the game or the crowd or whatever rile him up and make him too emotional. I think he needs that fire to play well. He needs that chip on his shoulder. I think the same thing that makes Grayson lose his cool and commit dumb mistakes is the same thing that makes him hungry and play well.

I don't think that's too far off base MPM. It does make logical sense. He's playing not to make a mistake, like a caged tiger. We need to uncage the tiger. Problem solved! :)

I have NOT given up on Grayson or this season. I still have faith. But I do think we go only as far as Grayson carries us.

Very good point. Well maybe he will get it back soon. Love that kid and miss his energy.

My observation on Grayson is he struggles when we have multiple alphas. He was an all around warrior his sophomore season. It was him and Ingram. Last season, well we know how that went, but we had multiple alphas. The same for this season. The Michigan State game, Bagley went down, Grayson stepped up. He played with that swag, then as soon as Bagley comes back, he goes back to the back seat. I'm as disturbed as most of you about him. Watching him on offense is like watching a boxer get punched for 12 rounds and hardly ever punch back.

He's just overrated and always has been. With that said, his sophomore season was much better than this seasons sub par effort.

If that’s the case he might as well go overseas after this season. He will be probably the 8th guy on an nba team next year. If he can’t cut it in college being a complementary piece then he definitely won’t cut it in the NBA

Maybe, I'm only stating what I see. How was he in the 16 season? How was he last season, or this season so far? There's more to the game than just physical tools. That's where Grayson is struggling. Some of you guys can only see the physical portion, you may not be able to comprehend that there's a whole other element to some players, something that is just as hard to teach as the physical part.

It's Grayson's senior year, he has been playing with studs since fall 2014. If he hasn't yet figured out how to blend with other superstars, than that is a Grayson Allen issue. We have 3 years of evidence that being the case, 2016 he was great, than the past 2 seasons have been a disaster.

I agree that the mental aspect of the game is what seems to be wearing down on Grayson, but it's much more alarming because this was the same exact issue as last year. It is what it is at this point, Grayson should not be handling the ball, he needs to hunt his 3 point shot. We should no longer count on him scoring 15+ a night, and consider it a benefit whenever he does.

He had 37 against Michigan State. Now name me his best games since?

Agreed, he's struggling right now. That's sort of the whole point of this thread. The fact that he scored 37 on MI State alone is a pretty special stat. Sure he's had an up and down career at Duke, but to discount all he has done as "overrated and always has been" is just plain absurd IMHO.

The bottom line is there's not a poster on this board that thought we would be talking about him in this way. He is not what we need. Grayson and Duval are hurting us.

I agree, I think Grayson stayed too long! It's like he doesn't have a place on the team with this group of one and dones. It's totally different from Quinn's situation which worked out perfectly...and Grayson was sure ready when we needed him! Want to see him morph into what he was in his sophomore season but I'm not sure it's going to happen with this group...

I truly believe Grayson is injured whether physically or mentally. Last year he had a heavy course load to graduate in 3 years, I believe it led to a lot of stress. This year something is bothering him. At first I thought it was his wrist but now just don't know. I am pulling for him though and wonder why others aren't as well .
