Ok here's the survey. Do you have turkey dressing or stuffing with your turkey. I eat dressing with my turkey. I make it with turkey or chicken broth mixed with bread crumbs or the pre made package that Pedridge Farms makes. I add onion, celery and other spices, put it in a baking pan and cook it until I like the texture. The wife and I like it really golden brown and we pour giblet gravy over it when served. Now about the stuffing. To my understanding the mixture is about the same except your put the stuffing up the turkey's rear end while the turkey is cooking. Now why the debate . My son DukeSky85 who was born and raised in North Carolina and ate his share of turkey dressing now lives in Utah and now insist it's stuffing. He says dressing is used on salads but there are shoe dressings, hair dressings etc. but you can stuff envelopes, pillows, packages and all sorts of other stuff . He used to eat supper but now it's dinner. I've come to the conclusion that it is all about where you live so what do you guys eat. Dressing or stuffing. OFC

Dressing if it comes from a pan.....stuffing if it comes from the butt....just like you said!!....But I'm not eating either one of them if you are going to insist on putting celery in it!!

Celery is part of the holy trinity. I don’t understand why my wife hates it.

Sky, I do my dressing the exact same way except I use dried out skillet cornbread that I make a few days in advance. My christmas version has a bit of country sausage mixed in. How do you make your gravy? I use smashed chicken livers, turkey grease, flour for rue, whole milk, some fine diced onions, and sliced boiled eggs to finish. Gravy and dressing is the star in my lineup.

Denver I believe thats called giblet gravy but I omit the boiled eggs and I put celery in both the stuffing and the dressing.

My mom is from the south and calls it dressing.

The rest of us are from the north and call it stuffing.

I also dislike celery.

I don't care what it's called as long as it tastes good, haha.

Dressing! If you call it anything else you're wrong.

My papaw was from Harlan Ky the heart of Appalachia so you know they always had dressing like sky described. They went to Ohio one yr for thanksgiving and his sister in law made stuffing from a box.. he wasn't a happy camper ha!! I guess that's where I get it from

My gravy is really simple. I just slowly stir in flour to a low boiling broth. OFC

You southerners are such a mess, with your "dressing" (the turkey is getting dressed? No, he's getting stuffed...) and how you call all sodas "Coke" and all of that.

Honey baked ham, tater salad here as well Hart. Christmas tradition.

Some deviled eggs with crumbled bacon in the mixture would go good with that meal but about a hour or so later there would be some saturated gas leaks. LOL. OFC

The turkey is not getting dressed. It's a side just like other goodies. And who wants to eat something that's been stuffed up a turkey's rear end anyway. And personally a Coke is a Coke, a Pepsi is a Pepsi, a Dr. Pepper is a Dr. Pepper, a Cheerwine is a Cheerwine, a Sprite is a Sprite , a 7-Up is a 7-Up, a R.C cola is a R.C. Cola, a Nehi Orange is a Nehi Orange etc. And I call all of them soft drinks. Never have used the word soda. Like I told dj you come to my house on Thanksgiving or Christmas SUPPER and you will eat turkey dressing and you will love it to the point you will never ever eat stuffing again. OFC

Heck yeah Sky - I mean how can you call a Nehi orange and a Cheerwine just "sodas." Those are CADILLAC soft drinks that deserve their own special stature!

Also you made the dressing sound so good I am having some w/ham Xmas day!! Merry Christmas, southern style! OFC

Dude you guys cant even make a good sweet tea..

OFC

Sweet tea?

We Northeners don't have time for damn sweet tea, or unsweetened tea, or any of that nonsense. In New York City we need coffee, and lots of it, if we are going to win this rat race... and avoid getting hit by the cabs!

;)

I miss me some southern cooking:)
