Best Duke Basketball Moments

I've been a fan since 1989. I know there are some posters who have been fans longer and want to hear about some moments that may not be mentioned as much. I'm interested to know everyones top 2 or 3 Duke moments(NON NC TITLE game). Moments that when you think of Duke basketball just pop into your head. I wanted to do non NC title games because I felt we may get a lot of repeats.
For me:
1. Miracle minute
2. 03- JJ going off against NC State in ACC tourney. I don't know why, but that always stands out to me as on of those games for me.
3. WOJO senior night. That was the day when I felt we were officially back to being on top and letting everyone know it.

1 of my most memorable duke moments. I got in a real bad wreck was flown to UNC hospital spent 28 days there. The 2001 final 4 game vs Maryland. Down huge in the 1st half. The comeback and was awesome cause I was at UNC and cheering like he'll for DUKE

Going to bed really upset with about 5 minutes left to go in the Duke/Maryland game in 2001. I wake up in the morning and my dad asked me if the Duke game was a good one. I told him no because they lost. He said no they didn't. I ran and looked at the newspaper and couldn't believe what I saw. Because of that, I watch every single Duke game to the end now.

I can’t remember either. The game where Coach K gave Plumlee a huge bear hug after his huge dunk was when I got banned from THR the first time. lol

Being a Duke fan for over 30 years there are many but I’m going to point out one that is not my favorite but really stands out to me and when it happened the elation I felt was incredible. In that moment I knew we were going to win the national title.

2010 ACC Championship: I think we were up one on GA Tech with just a few seconds left and K calls one of my favorite plays, a play that is a signature Duke play for all of the great shooters we’ve had come through The program.

As I am watching I see it develop. I see Scheyer moving without the ball. I tell myself “here come Scheyer off the curl”, and lo and behold just as I saw it in my minds eye here comes Scheyer off the curl. The screen is set beneath the basket and Jon makes his way out to the three-point line and the ball is deliver perfectly as he turns, he catches it, shoots it and guts GA Tech and in that moment I lose my ****. I think there is just milliseconds left and that puts us up by four and there is no way Tech could win the game and I knew in my heart of hearts we were going to win it all that year.

Not my favorite memory but very very special to me. I think about it a lot, can finally share it.

Beating UNLV and Tark the Shark in 91. Before that game, UNLV had only trailed in any game the whole season for less than one minute.

Not trying to compare a basketball game to a tragic moment for our country but when "the shot" went down I remember exactly where I was. Absolutely incredible. I still tell my son about that.

That is A) MY GAME! MY STORY! My oldest child was born right before that game. I didn't even remember the game until halftime, I was so smitten. There was a huge thunderstorm outside Durham Regional Hospital an hour after her birth and I thought the lightning was the flash of cameras staring at my baby with me. Moving stuff from the big fancy birth room to the little overnight closet they stick you in, I caught from about the point Duhon and Blake had that huge collision until the end of the game, the last 5 minutes or so. I cheered silently w/ a 2-day old in my arms as we beat 'Zona for the title. I took time off from work that summer and watched the semi-final game on VHS practically every day w/ my baby asleep on my chest. Good times, good times.
And B) not finny.

It’s “The Shot” and then everything else. Miracle Minute is probably second. Laettners shot to be UCONN is third. And Laettners free throws vs UNLV is fourth. We’re talking the most clutch college player of all time. All Elite Eight or FF moments. Don’t get better than that.

I'm with a lot of you on the miracle minute. Like Dahntay I almost went to bed, luckily I had to take my dog out to the bathroom and when we came back in the comeback had begun so I watched the rest.

Was at the 2010 ACCT title game, that Scheyer shot was awesome.

01, 10 and 15 NT games are ones that I watched all of. And of course the moment I knew I'd be a Duke fan forever..."The Shot"

So I'll throw out beating UK pretty easily in the 2012 Champions Classic. Seth Curry had a nice game I believe.

Destroying West Virginia the year after Shaun Alexander said Duke couldn't compete in the big east. We beat them by twenty and went on to win the national championship that year.

I've only been watching since 1993, but some of the ones i remember being the most excited about winning ...

2001 - maryland final four win - still my favorite because of how much i hated them
2004 - Duhon reverse layup against unc to win
2010 - elite 8 win over Baylor - felt like everyone was picking baylor to win. Also just felt like such a long time since duke had won a game like that and since the last final four
2015 - comeback win against virginia with all the announcers talking about how great their D was, and how a 9 point lead was insurmountable with 6 minutes left - very very nice to win that one

My first Duke game that my son DukeSky85 went with me to. He was about 8 or 9 and we went early. I wanted o let him go on the court and we actually made it. Figured pretty quick that we shouldn't be there and headed for the nearest exit and up walks Chris Collins, Tony Lang and Grant Hill. My son and I chatted for a real short while and Grant shook my son's hand. Special moment. OFC

The 2002 Season (believe the game was played in Dec 2001 as the Jimmy V Classic) against UK was awesome. Down 10 in the 2nd half, K benched the whole starting unit. J-Will then WENT CRAZY the last 10 minutes of that game.
I was going to school in Kentucky at that time, was a wonderful moment when we won.

Favorite game: ‘98 senior day. Wojo’s dad in the crowd going nuts sticks in my head.

Have we mentioned JJ and Daniel going nuts against MSU in Cameron and the Crazies chanting Paul Davis’s recent ex-girlfriend’s name every time he was at the line. He went 3-8 from the line that game.

Or when K started Patrick Davidson Reggie Love and Patrick Johnson against Wake. The results weren’t felt in the actual score, but the message was sent as Duke had been handled by Wake at Wake and they were on the verge of a three game skid.
