The G.O.A.T has several quotes or sayings you can set your clock by, and I love his pre game and post game talks:

These are hypothetical of course, but you get the idea:

1/Alex gave us a "verve." We started slow, and he hit a big shot.

2/"Furman's OLD. They start 2 seniors and 3 juniors."

3/They played well early and "knocked us back."

4/They put "game pressure" on us.

5/Grayson is a "special player."

Love ya coach!

Always loved "special player" whether it would be Christian, Bobby, Grant, JJ, Grayson or many others. We've had a lot of special players and that's Coach K's way pointing out how outstanding they are. OFC

It's not a particular quotation or phrase, but I've always loved K's ability to recount a game 5, 10, or 20 years ago in incredible detail. He'll mention the score, the time, what a player had previously shot in that game until that moment, what someone said in the huddle, etc.

Not sure if it's what you would call a quote from him or not, but when he has a team that is capable of winning it all he won't downplay the fact that he has a talented bunch. He's doing that this year.

Well, one of the things I remember best is back in the 80's Virginia crushed Duke, and afterwards everyone said to forget about the game, and Coach K said, 'never forget it'. I think that shows the unrelenting competitive drive for excellence that he possesses.

Yep....and he always refrains from calling a current team great. I love that. It's like his own personal challenge to those guys. You might be good, but you're not great....yet. He did that throughout the 2015 season. I remember him saying at the postgame presser after the title game against Wisconsin, something like...."now Quinn and Tyus can stop giving me a hard time about not calling this team great, because they are great!" He said it drove those guys bonkers he wouldn't call them great.

Remember when they signed the floor at Cameron.

  1. "The signing of the floor was not about Maryland or any particular opponent. It's about us. It's about us reminding each other that this is our floor, and we don't take it for granted. That's the only thing.”

Duke famously signed the center of Cameron Indoor Stadium's Coach K court prior to a game against ACC rival Maryland.

The Blue Devils had gone a stretch of time having lost to the Terps on their famous home court, and used this moment as an opportunity to dedicate themselves to protecting their home floor.

ODD I found this online. That has to be one of my favorite quotes as well.

  1. "Here's to a night we will never forget."

Krzyzewski said as much following a get together after a 109-66 loss to Virginia in the ACC Tournament.

A friend proposed that supporters or the program pledge to forget the night, but Krzyzewski would have none of it. He wanted the sting of the defeat to resonate in his players, staff, fans and himself for a long time to come.

I remember that game. I also remember a UVA game at UVA where we lost big time. I think it was a o'clock game and Duke got back home in the wee hours of the morning. The bus went to Cameron and the team practiced that morning. I think that's the time Grant got his nose broken. OFC

"Christian Laettner may miss a free throw, but he won't choke." "This year's team may lose a game, but they won't choke."
Cannot imagine the confidence required to tell someone that “Don’t worry coach I got them” like Christian did in the Unlv game
