Coach K, 1K at Duke!

What a privilege to watch him coach for all these years and to see K get to 1000 at Duke. Just amazing.

At one point Wooden was considered the greatest coach ever. And, he will always be right there in every conversation because of the 10 titles in 12 seasons.

But, I think K will go down as the greatest of all-time, given the era he coached in, the integrity of the program, and the number of wins. One more title and that would be icing on the cake. But, regardless, even though perhaps not as good an X's and O's as some (e.g., Bobby Knight), because of the overall program he built ... none compare.

As Duke fans we’re quite blessed. There’s no doubt in my mind many of us, myself included, take him for granted. He’s the best ever.

It really is hard to fathom everything he has accomplished. A true gift to the game of basketball, and Duke fans everywhere. But most importantly, he has been a great basketball AND life coach to all the players to put those 4 letters on their chest for the last 38 years. The world could use a few more guys like K.

I remember Bill Foster and the team's he had at Duke in the 70's. Some good basketball ball then. Spanarkel, Gminski, Banks, 3 ACC ROY's in a row but all I can say is thank you Tom Butters for believing in the young Polish guy!

Congrats 1K! I like at the end of the speech he said something like enjoy this team and focus on the now. I really like how Coach K lives in the moment. He could easily look back at all the banners or look ahead with excitement but he really does take it 1 game or 1 day at a time.
