Some solid but generic quotes in there. I was glad to hear that he and Cam are talking to each other, that can't hurt. I do like our position here right now but obviously anything can happen and it's still early on. November is a long way away with four more visits to take.

Cam"s working on recruiting him. Couple that w/Barrett's comment about them playing together and it sounds favorable. Never know, per Timo its still EARLY and its a process. Certainly just as a casual observer on these things, it seems these phenoms are always EXTREMELY CAREFUL at this stage not to denigrate anyone recruiting them or the fanbase. OFC

I love our position with Barrett also after reading this! Would be awesome to land him. I was surprised to read the car salesman didn't have a pitch to give. Lol

I'll parrot @timo0402 and say we're in a great spot and quite frankly Oregon is a bigger threat than Kentucky at this point. And the fact that Cal won't tell him anything until he "knows what the roster looks like", speaks volumes.

I find that odd that Cal would say that. He hasn't known what his roster is going to look like every years he's been at Kentucky? Is this something he always says? If not, well, K can certainly tell Barrett what his roster will look like.

What Calipari actually said and what Barrett commented on could be 2 different things. Perhaps that's what Barrett got from the conversation.

I have no problem with what Coach Cal told Barrett. It sounds to me like he told him the truth. It's not like he guaranteed him 35 minutes or offered a scholarship to a younger relative if he comes to Kentucky. The kid knows he will play wherever he goes

True. I don't think K or Cal promises minutes but tell them how they'll be used (as of the present moment)

I agree that it doesn't mean much or that there is a problem with whatever Cal told him. I wouldn't think Cal would make a mistake like that when it comes to recruiting that's for sure.

"RJ Barrett tells Zagsblog his visit to UK was "alright" and that Calipari didn't really tell him that much about what his role would be."

I agree. It's only September and he still has 4 visits left and November when he plans to make his announcement is still a long ways away. The positive is that he talks to Cameron Reddish and feels that they'll be able to play together and that will counterbalance that he also talks to Shai Alexander. Hopefully the staff saw his quote that he feels that they can play together and talks that up during his visit.

The other key is that he's deciding in November. We plan to lose 4-5 starters next year. Kentucky's 2017 class may have more non-one and dones than ever before and I think they will return more 2nd year players than Duke. Barring a major collapse, Duval, Bagley, Carter, Allen and maybe Bolden/Trent could all be gone. I think UK may only lose Knox and Diallo for sure. For Barrett to decide in the fall without know who all was leaving or staying at UK bodes well for Duke, IMO.

What's Cal going to tell RJ. I can help you score 40 pts versus average competition in the SEC vs RJ scoring 35 pts against the Under 17 All American team that Cal coached. Why I've always thought RJ ends up at Duke or Oregon. Also, I think Cal has Zion as their top SF target, which is find with me but seems dumb, and Zion's hang arounds seem like the type that if a coach says anything very positive about a kid in same position at Zion then they will raise hell.

Why I would just rather get RJ or Nasir Little, as both are just as good, or better in RJ's case and both have a lot less drama that surrounds them.

I find it odd that Oregon is a threat to land this kid. Why??

Style of play; school in the Northwest that reminds him of home; Oregon has been recruiting him longer than anyone; home to Nike and they've been winning a ton of games; and they've got a long established pipeline into the major basketball schools and AAU/UAA in Canada that they've been working since well before Altman got there.

Whatever, earlier in the day Barrett himself said the visit was "alright." His AAU coach may be trying to smooth things over but I don't see anything from Barrett himself in that UK homer article. The UK homer probably started with his coach something like, "OMG, we are all shitting our pants, is it true RJ didn't like his visit that much????? Pleeaaassseee say it ain't so, coach!!!! Waaaahhhh!!!!!" Barrett even put on Twitter when he was on his visit that he couldn't wait to get back home. Yeah, sounds awesome.....
