Spent many a year diving in Micronesia, where the favorite barbecue staple is Spam. They also love turkey necks and turkey tails.

They didn't have Rose. Very disappointed. Had to settle for another brand. As for the Duke's mayo cokes and relish I do have those cokes on hand but not much of a relish man. Depends on the relish. Here's what I do make for hot dogs and it's awesome. 1 part sweet and hot banana peppers, 1 part chopped onion, 1 part sweet pickle relish and celery seed to taste. Top on hot dogs with a little Duke's mayo and some Hunts ketchup and it's a good something different. Plan on trying some potted meat crackers on zestas with pepper a little later tonight with an ice cold 8 oz. glass bottle coke. It's been years since I've ate potted meat. OFC

Gross!! My granny used to make me scrambled brains and eggs when I was a kid. I remember going over there at around he age 16 and she hadn't made them in years. She made them that day and when I asked what it was, I wouldn't eat it. She told me how I used to love them.....well granny, I don't anymore.....

Ok I did it. It was not as good as I remember but it may have been because it was not the Rose Brand. 1 can will make about 8 -10 crackers depending on the thickness of the spread. I want to try to find the Rose brand but not sure where to find it. I don't think even if it was Rose I would eat it every night. With that said even if I can't find the Rose I will try it again. What I had tonight was Armour. I know we are having a good time with this. My wife wonders what I'm chuckling about as I read some of this stuff. I know I'm not your typical poster that uses this social media of sports talk boards. I love to make people laugh and I know I can get off the purpose of the board somewhat and I'm thankful of the mods we have that put up with some of my silly stuff. Hint here don't take me too seriously. I have a tendency to be a little sarcastic from time to time. I also know that I really rub those thr guys the wrong way and they have the right to feel the way they do. One thing that eating these potted meat crackers tonight was that it brought back wonderful memories of my dad who died way too soon. I was 22 when he passed. He would open up a can of Rose potted meat and split it with me. He would put both vinegar and pepper on his. I would just use pepper. He would also split a glass bottled Pepsi with me. He was a Pepsi man. I talk about food a lot but most of the time it's all in fun and I don't eat all the time. I have to say about 4 years ago I weighed 268 pounds. Being 5'8" I was way over weight. Went to the doctor today and I weighed 231.6 pounds. I'm kind of proud. I'm sitting here writing this stuff and have no idea why I'm telling all of this. This board is my therapy. I love it and love the people who post here even the ones that don't like me or the ones that are few that I don't like. It's really hard to not like someone you've never met but it's easy to love people I've never met. Thanks guys for making my days so much more pleasurable. You've been with me through my son's marriage, birth of 3 grandchildren and the death of my wonderful mother-in-law. Sorry for the long post and thanks to all who were patient enough to read it. I know what you mean Sky! What fool would want to ruin a perfectly good can of brains by mixing them with eggs right?

Sky I also loved your story and your post caused me to think of my Father who would be 106 years old if still living. He died at 45 with a heart attack when I was just 7 years old but I do remember him taking me cane pole fishing and watching him eat stinking sardines on crackers. My Father, who was one of ten kids was born in Tatum SC where I am sure they ate brains, pig feet, chitterlings, mountain oysters, pig ears and pig tail because that's all they could afford. I have probably eaten a thousand cans of potted meat in my 66 years but proud to say none in the last 50 of so.

We have some similarities...
I grew up in Anderson S.C., and my father also died young of a heart attack. I was 13 and he was I think maybe 37 or so.
He didn't eat sardines, but he did take me fishing!!
I remember every time we went on a vacation, he hated to stop for food, so we would have potted meat and Vienna's with crackers while driving...I got smart and started packing PB&J samiches!!

We've been talkin potted meat, pork brains, etc and this is a story Sky, Dirt, Mac and some other of us NC fellers will appreciate. Former Rep Congressman the late and honorable Howard Coble had nary a foe on either side of the aisle in Washington.

You have to love his favorite breakfast if you're a dyed in the wool southern boy. He was a good friend, sorry to say he pulled for UNC, his only flaw- miss ya Howard:

I've got a good idea. For Duke's DR trip, why don't we get some members of DI and all meet at Sky's house. We can have Sky cook some of that good ol' potted meat on the grill, along with some treet sandwiches. I can hardly wait. Just to save the food for others, I'll eat before I get there.

It's been a long time, but I've ate potted meat before, and deviled ham spread (on a sandwich). Never did I eat pork brains (or any kind of brains), or feet, etc I've been a vegetarian for about 13 years now, so no meat whatsoever anymore..

You don't cook potted meat. It's an appetizer on Zesta or Premium Saltine crackers. And you ain't coming to my house mac. :) OFC
