Their other golden child lost on a buzzer beater against Villanova also!
If UNC were able to do this and win, I wonder how I'd feel? The winning makes it easier of course, but to see guys come and go every year would take off some of the shine. Not knocking anyone, just curious to know other fan's thoughts. Really only you and UK fans can comment on it.I have been a Duke Basketball fan for around 25 to 26 years which I know is less than some of you on the board, but I must say that as the years go on and the one and done has become prominent for us I do feel a disconnect with the team. It seemed as if the 2015 team had been playing together for years and had a great bond. I think that is few and far between these days when guys are out the door after 9 months. It is hard to watch this current group of underclassman, either they do not understand what it means to put on the Duke jersey and play for something bigger than themselves or they simply do not care and are worried about the paycheck that will be coming their way in June. After watching this group of Freshman the only one I see that wont be in the D league is Tatum and even he may be playing there.
Does anyone think ESPN has an actual 'favorite' as you put it?Yet Hole fans constantly refer to ESPN as "DSPN" claiming that it is actually Duke that is their favorite. Ha.
Duke has had more than one OAD a single time in program history and the only reason that happened was because of the success of that team. That's a fact that UnC fans don't care to want to admit. If UNC were able to do this and win, I wonder how I'd feel? Absolutely not. What I do think is they care about ratings. Whatever moves the needle is what they'll shove down your throat. Grayson is a huge example. We're in the middle of NFL playoffs, just finished the CFP and one of the best title games ever and two NBA guys averaging a near triple double and this is what we are discussing?Does anyone think ESPN has an actual 'favorite' as you put it?
As far as college basketball goes..Duke, UK, UNC, and Kansas I'd say are really the only schools that move the needle from a ratings perspective. Would be interesting to see if a UK or UNC player was going through what Grayson is going through, how much coverage it would get.Absolutely not. What I do think is they care about ratings. I totally agree. I was careful to preface my first post with I am jealous of you guys. To Tim's post above, I'm not saying Duke has become a OAD factory like UK, but they are closer than anyone else at present. I was just curious to get some thoughts from people. I do wonder if K coaches for a few more years, would he limit the amount of OADs he would accept? A couple studs mixed in with experience is the best recipe but how do you say no if 4 of the top 10 guys want to play for you?Ticket, with all due respect, you would be doing the EXACT same thing in this time and era, if your team and coach were able. I KNOW this is a fact. You simply have not been able to get the super talented kids due to the worries of penalties associated with 18 years of academic fraud. You guys still stay in the upper echelon because of this same fact, you have guys who are in the program longer and are more mature and solid in their chemistry. Fact. 100%.

I love having the new guys year in and year out! Keeps it fresh! Although it is frustrating when the players don't mesh well but I still feel we have time for that to happen this year.
By far the most frustrating year of watching Duke basketball since i started following in 78. Not the losses but the injuries, the unknown about them, K's surgery and now no matter what a new Grayson video everyday.I love the way he has played and he will go down as one of my favorites but you cant tell me that it isnt distracting to the team. Today I wake up and he shoved a coach. Meanwhile at end of article it says incidental contact but the article name"Grayson shoves coach" I know hes brought it on himself but it has become an absolute joke. espn has a guy look at every moment of him playing. Yet barely mentioning a 30 year cheating scandal. They should be ashamed. oh well its not even enjoyable this year
You should have been a Duke fan during the early to mid 70's. That was frustrating. OFC

Some say Tim Duncan rarely looked like he gave a crap.I have to say... I don't always understand when people say that the guys are playing like they don't care. What does that literally look like? Do their faces not look sad enough when they get scored on? Are they not quick enough on offense? And how can you tell the difference between just a failure in play and not caring?
I do have an issue when people say they think the young guys don't care, because I am not sure if that is true, or if it is just a reflection of how the viewer THINKS the guys feel.

I like the idea of hanging blown national championship banners!
KoachQ....dude. You don't enjoy Duke basketball anymore then list a plethora of LIFE happenings. I've disagreed with you on many occasions but still liked many things you brought up. But if a bad run of luck makes you not want to watch Duke anymore, I've gotta say, you're either not as serious of a fan as I thought you were or dare I say, even a bandwagon fan. That all just sounded sad bud. I hate whats been going on as well, but I'll watch EVERY game from now until I'm dead. God, we've had SOOOOOOO many things to celebrate here, it cant all be candy and rainbows every day.
