Didn't see this discussed anywhere on here. I saw online today that last season he was at 195lbs and now he's up to 210. That's a pretty impressive weight gain for a RB in the offseason. He had moments last year really showing his potential, and now he's big enough to get through some of those initial contact tackles. Should be fun to watch.

That is all.

That is tremendous weight gain for him. Always need 2 or 3 RBs if you don't have "the guy".

Kind of crazy to think of it considering how freaking violent he runs. He ran with a Shonn Greene mentality weighing about 30-40 lbs less.

chihuahua metamorphoses into a pit…his violent running style could put the additional poundage to great use.

Jazz's run style has always been the down hill/freight train type. Never afraid to make contact and level someone. A nice balance between him and Moulton, who I think is more of a finesse runner. Gives the offense plenty of options. Hope to see a breakout year for him!

Looks like we will use a 3 headed monster: Kamari Moulton, Jaziun Patterson & TJ Washington.

New RB coach, too (Omar Young).

Good call on Jazz.

Moulton not a finesse runner

Still wondering what you meant, in your last Beacon post, by, "(you) can't wait for Lester to make me miserable."

I don't know anything about Doll but the general talk about him is intriguing. Can he become the 3rd back with situational carries? How does he compare with Wegher of old who did great work for us as a true freshman?

Doll has speed but was a bit injury prone in high school.

He's in the mix at gunner, on special teams. But it's a deep room at RB. I think Washington will fill the roll of 3rd down back that can catch it out of the backfield.

Wetjen will be force-fed the gadget "now" screens and reverses.

Just not many carries available for Brevin.

McNeil looked good in the spring scrimmage. But really, if there's a back that pushes to get into the rotation, if think it could be Williams. Tough all-round back.

Run the ball

I would be surprised to see Doll in the mix at RB unless things have really changed.

I also think Washington will be a positive RB for Iowa this season.

The problem with using a guy like this is a well-coached defense will recognize any time he's inserted into the game. You're gonna have to play off his action and use him as a decoy some or they'll key on him.

Very true.

Sounds like Wetjen's route running is improving. That would help.

But I'd be surprised if he's able to play much as a receiver

McNeil looked the part in spring scrimmage.

We may not have a back drafted as high as KJ, but the room has some crazy good depth.

Moulton likely will be RB1 (is at 205 lbs and still has the speed).

TJ Washington (has versatility, likely RB2) & Jaz Patterson will see action.

The staff likes Xavier Williams (RS FR) & Brevin Doll, too.

Lots of depth at the RB position.

Check this out & watch:

In the interview they said McNeil, the freshman, has the 10 yard record and Doll holds the agility record.
My insider with the team (And he's definitely in a position to know) said the following last Wednesday. I may have misrepresented him. He said, "He's going to be a difference maker at some point. He currently has the fastest 10 yard split on the team."

Yeah, I have zero inside knowledge. I was just quoting Chad Leistikow from the interview video that was posted in the thread.

Nathan, a true freshman, is now listed at 5'11, 203. Rivals had him at 5'11, 195 coming out of high school.

Do you think they redshirt him?

I wouldn't know. But it seems crowded and getting carries this season will be tough.
