I welcome the new coach and shall give him the Easter Oklahoma Orthopedic Creek Nation Bingo Don Carlton name "Three Sheep". May he take Tulsa to a championship of the American and then go on to coach a National Championship (here or wherever).

I hope he does well and takes us back to the glory days but this is definitely the ho hum pick I thought was coming.
At least he's not a retread. He's relatively young and likely inexpensive. I'd consider it an "outside the box" hire, so none of us know what to expect at this point.
You guys got a heck of a great coach in him. You will not be disappointed. This guy is the real deal and then some.
Onward and upward... or whatever... let's see what happens. I am not one of those who believes the Tulsa football job was coveted by many... if anyone
If he leaves in 3 years and coaches are jumping to come to Tulsa because he had succeeded then I will be very happy with this hire.

I do appreciate your input. Lamb is an unknown to most of us.
Of course I’m still a TU fan! I know him from his time at both GW and ETSU. One of his offensive coaches who I believe he is bringing with him is also a close family friend. These guys really connect with student athletes and cultivate a winning culture. They expect each athlete to be accountable to himself as well as the team and strive for excellence. I was hoping he would have ended up at Central Michigan but I’m happy he landed in Tulsa. This guy will be highly sought after in a few years but will leave Tulsa way better than he found it. He surrounds himself with great people which will result in a coaching tree that will sprout many successful coaches. 
The only reason I asked if you were still a TU fan was your use of the “you guys got a heck of a coach“…. Anyway, thanks again for the positive input. I think we all need to hear more reasons to be encouraged, I know I do!
My hope is some of the guys in the transfer portal, especially the ones we could use their talent will rethink their initial plans to leave Tulsa.

So I'd like to point out one thing about Lamb, this will be a big job for him. He will probably make some mistakes, but he's going to be hungry.
His record is a bit of a misnomer as he more or less had two scheduled losses each year, playing against FBS teams with an FCS roster in terms of size and recruiting capability.
He won his conference in back to back seasons after rebuilding the team from basically nothing. In his first year at East Tennessee, he didn't lose an FCS game by more than a touchdown the entire season, and had his team playing well against FCS heavy hitters like NDSU.
This is a high risk, high reward hire for TU. I wish him the best!

After watching some videos of him, I’m with you! I think people will be excited after his introductory press conference!He is a DAWG!!
One fun tidbit, in an interview, he mentioned that he’s a +1 Golfer. Normally I don’t care too much, but if it gives him an “in” to help schmooze some of the Southern Hills Elites that’s a net positive for TU’s NIL prospects.
I do hope he’s just as dedicated to the recruiting trail as he is to his golf game though. Lord knows we need that passion.

If he’s that good of a golfer, you know a membership to SH is in that contract. Sure as hell wouldn’t be Cedar Ridge.

He said football is his all consuming passion and golf is his one hobby. He said doesn’t hunt, fish or have other hobbies. Sounds like a great football coach to schmooze with country club donors!

Thanks for this insight. I will be cautiously optimistic. I really do feel like Tulsa needed a HR hire and this doesn't feel like it was (on the surface) so it's more a wait and see for me but I do appreciate the insight because most of us are clueless to who this guy is and the overall record is ho-hum to be honest.Of course I’m still a TU fan! I looked back at his teams' records and Aston has a good point here. In some seasons, he played 3 FBS teams, and not complete FBS bottom dwellers, they came close to winning a couple. They also played a couple of teams that are ramping up for FBS inclusion and so presumably had a lot more resources than GW. Compare that to say South Dakota St., they played 1 FBS team this year.
I suspect he saw some of the best FCS kids that should easily play at Tulsa.
If we're going to take a closer look at his win/loss records as a head coach then it's probably also important to note that 3 of his career wins (in 4.5 seasons as an HC) have come against Division II teams, including a 63-0 win over UVA-Wise this season at ETSU. So while I definitely give him credit for hanging with some FBS teams (although failing to beat a single one of them), it's tough to look at 7-5 records and not discount wins against clearly inferior opponents like UVA-Wise, Limestone University and Lincoln (PA).
I'm hopeful for this hire and I think he's shown an ability to turn around struggling programs in the past. With that said, his overall track record leaves quite a lot to be desired. Either way, I think he's a massive upgrade over KW at the very minimum.
