We still have like 4 or 5 holes that need filled. Our releases are moving. Now we need to be acquiring pieces. Graduation should be soon

Not shocked. If BB wanted to come back I'd be OK with it, same with Chukwu (mostly because he's a big body). I think Konkol can get them to buy in and I saw enough with BB at least to think there is talent and some contribution to get from him.

I have a hard time letting anyone back after they literally gave up on the floor. Maybe I can be convinced but that is a hard to gain trust back.

I thought that BB had committed to UTRGV.

Garcia is a 6’8 forward. Played two seasons with Charlotte and 1 with Salt Lake City CC

Hopefully he’s just a backup. Need a better big that that
Personally I would suggest not bad mouthing a guy who's 6' 8" and fouled out of a game last year in 8 minutes of playing time...

But seriously he was a fouling machine, especially at the start of the season. He had 4 or 5 fouls in 7 of their first 13 games. When his fouling was under control, as it was in most tho not all of the last half of the season, he got a lot more PT.

check out his line in the Dec. 27 game against Justice College. 8 minutes, 11 points on 4-5 shooting, 5 fouls. Ok... His coach must have been going ape ****.

He was a little inconsistent in the scoring. But in the last 18 games of the season his scoring average was 14.3, quite a bit of an increase from earlier when he got into foul trouble more. His foul trouble kept him out of the game a lot in the first half of the season, but he got it under control. Thus his minutes increased to 25.3.

He blocked 1.1 shots a game for the season, but that rose to 1.44 in the second half when he started fouling less. He averaged 6.8 rebounds per game as well. He will be more than a backup. Hopefully he can score more consistently. You did a cursory glance at his stats and made a quick assessment?

That’s still an improvement over last season’s “we don’t care enough to foul”
yeah, for sure. And fouling is coachable, he got a lot better over the year which seems to say that the coaching was sinking in. Usually what you see is what you get with JUCOs but I suspect he has more upside than his stats show because of his unique and fixable challenges last year.

Yeah, for sure. We're literally building an entire team this year, so every role needs to be filled. Jared looks like the kind of guy who can come in with the second line and give you 10 and 5 in 10 - 20 minutes a game. That's a very important role. And he came off the bench for the first half of last year and started most of the second half, so he's on a good trajectory of improvement. There might well be more upside than we can see for him, tho that second line role would more than justify his scholly. I don't love all our recruiting decisions this year but this seems like a good pick up.

He might have foul trouble again at the first of the season, playing against D1 players. Hopefully if that does happen, it will dissipate as the season gets into the second half, and he adjusts to playing D1 again. That's why we need someone like Huie on the roster to compliment him..

If he’s more than a backup then it’s going to be a long season. I hope the freshmen are ready.

He’s not good enough to start. Look at his two years at Charlotte. Juco stats are just meh too. Maybe he plays 15 min off the bench, but shouldn’t be more than that.

I will say, we could Still use another big capable of playing 20 - 25 minutes per game.…even if it’s because of foul trouble or injury to someone else. Haith tried to get by with 2 legit big men and it almost cost us a tourney appearance with 8 seniors during his second season.
