Probably much closer than that. We'll have to see how quickly our OL can come together.

I’ll be happy with a 24-23 W in OT
We don't want any part of an overtime game in Wyoming. We'll be plenty gassed by the time we hit the fourth quarter. Can't have a slow start at that elevation and expect to fight our way back...

season prediction 8-4?
Wouldn’t shock me with 2 wins , but wouldn’t shock me with 10 wins , I quit trying to guess with Monty , I thought 2020 would be his final year, but then he comes out and is a field goal away from winning the AAC.

That’s what is so frustrating about Monty. He is a good OC away from being a great player’s coach.
He’s had pieces missing the last few years. Some of that is his fault, some of it the schools, some of it nobodies fault.

The playing calling and clock management are at times comical. But we are often in those positions because he’s coaching to cover up deficiencies or trying to even odds between our players who are physically mismatched.

With the portal and some changes internally to the program, he’s finally got the players he needs or has had sufficient opportunity to try to entice them here to TU and failed. If he can’t win with the hand he’s been dealt this season, he never will. We’ve got bills to pay and he’s not bringing home the bacon.

If he's able to recruit the players he needs, unless he fails miserably this season, I'm ok with a second season next year. He has a completely rebuilt OL that won't have played together till summer ball. I don't think it's fair to give him one season after the transfer portal and the internal changes allows him to get the players he needs. 5-7 or 6-6 says give him one more year. I know it is dragging on with him, but letting him have one year with his needs met isn't fair.

He runs a developmental system with heavy focus on QB play. This is the pay off year for Brin. What he does works or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t pay off with Brin, then you are talking about giving him two years minimum with the next guy. And judging by their skill set in the passing game so far, we’ve seen that movie before. I’m not that patient when tickets are left unsold.

The year before that he was a competent kicker away from beating multiple top 25 teams (SMU + Memphis)
Yes , the only year I thought we were legitimately bad was the Chad President / Luke Skipper year . 2018 started to show promise with the defense , but still wasn’t great. 2019 really was just extremely frustrating because we always seem to find a way to lose at the end . Have no idea what to expect this year

Davis will have another year of eligibility left after this year, if he wants it. Let's say he has a halfway decent year(with a subpar record) and the cause is obvious.(him running for his life back there because of poor protection) If that protection starts showing that it's improving significantly late in the year, but not in time to salvage a good record, I won't mind if he gets another year. That's just me. You know Brin would have to have awful performances and then some, for Monty to demote Brin his Sr/graduate year.(Even if he had good reason to do so.) So the job would be his, season after next, unless he fks up royally.

I also wouldn't like to start off with a new QB and a first year coach. So there's fair, and what I'd be okay with. Wouldn't mind Brin's farewell tour be with a new coach to make the transition easier.

Brin has already graduated and its my understanding he will complete graduate school in May. You'll have to ask him, but I would be surprised if he continues to play or play here beyond this season. That said, its his final year in the system. Montgomery believes starters start for two years with a sophomore behind them ready to come in play. Even if he individually has another year, the system we are so married to says he should be ready for his final year. I understand how you look at it, but you dont make program decisions based on player considerations. Its the system that isn't working at a certain point and you stop hoping for next year and find another system. We were sold a wide open offense that threw deep down field and ranked amongst the most efficient in college football being led by a known cultivator of QB talent who could leverage relationships with Texas high school coaches. Brin is probably the first truly organically grown QB during his tenure. His play has been wildly inconsistent at times. His arm is strong, but not winning any competitions or comparisons to past greats here. We only rarely stretch the field, both by design and because of player speed deficits. Our recruiting, except lately from the portal and we will see how the turns out, has been lack luster and flat out puzzling at times. We were sold tempo, but see it only at odd times (though the trend in college football is away from tempo). College football in the era of the portal is a win now game. By design, the high school mentality that kids can't play until the develop mentally for three years and up to 4 years physically just doesn't fit the sport's current demands. And at a school like Tulsa, it would seem to be a system destined to always have pieces missing. The only place that mentality did work, the school suffered devastating repercussions from taking questionable transfers to overcome their own talent deficits. For us, the results reveal themselves at the box office and the lack of buzz about the program.

I didn't realize he was on track to finish graduate school in May.

On PAPER, we have better players then they do, their offense struggles to score , but so does ours. If Monty dosnt get in his own way, I think we can over power them

Think we are going to go a longer but more scenic route, going through the texas panhandle and up through Colorado, probably stay around Colorado Springs and then up to Cheyanne the next day
