Defensive back, Wisconsin

Offensive lineman, Illinois

Offensive lineman, Colorado State

Offensive lineman, Tennessee

Every one of these schools are very good academic schools….(Well, no one is ever going to confuse Trinity Valley for Harvard).

This is not a “sexy” recruiting class, but I agree, this is a good recruiting class.

Recruiting in the “Portal Age” is much more difficult, and this has got to wear on college football staffs. The staffs work much harder.

I believe the NCAA suspended the 85/25 rule which is a lifesaver for programs like Kansas.

Putting kids into the draft certainly helps recruiting. Tulsa has a ton of player development clout to go on right now and it has happened both on the offensive side of the ball and on defense. Hopefully that can prove dividends in the W column.
It has seemingly happened on the defensive side of the ball. It took them a while to pick up the minimum # needed on the OL. They so far have failed to pick up a RB. It seems they did well with the WR corp, but we've yet to see it happen across the board with the offense.

We've got 8 RBs on campus right now...maybe a couple of them are walk-ons but the rest are on scholarship. How many do you want? Not only that, it's a really deep and talented group as well. And that depth and experience might be dissuading some transfers to consider TU.

Think about it...Prince, Watkins, and Anderson are all going to get plenty of reps and that's not even taking into account Bill Jackson (who I think is going to be a monster when he gets a chance) and Jordan Ford. We've got 2 really promising FR on campus, 1 of which is probably going to get some time as a returner. And then there's Cookie! That kid's a beast. Think Prince 2.0 with the speed and size to really punish defenders trying to tackle him.

I think the RB room is just fine.

I agree with you about the rbs, if you get a chance to take the jacobs kid you probably do but it’s not a high priority position of need IMO

I do think we will be fine at RB. (That wasn't what I was getting at.)

Let's not bring walk-ons into the conversation. We don't do that at any other position, unless they've earned playing time. We have 5 scholarship players. A couple of injuries at the same time, and it would affect our running game. That's why Monty went after a couple of three rb's in recruiting and the portal. Monty likes an overstocked stable of rb's, just like our defensive coordinators likes overstocked DB's. He had a reason for going after a few RB's. He's not comfortable with this stable taking on a couple of injuries. It won't kill us, but we didn't replace Shamari.

But you are focusing on a position rather than the overall recruiting, which was what I was talking about. I won't say that the draft translated to overall heightened success on the offensive side of the ball until I see #'s and quality in recruits and transfers. I saw that on the defensive side of the ball, but it was a bit more sporadic and seemingly less complete on the offensive side of the ball. And it seemed to be the most problematic with the OL. I would expect the one area we had draft success on(on offense) would not be where we struggled to pick up the recruits/transfers we needed.

On defense I feel a little more secure. I think that this will be a good and more complete set of recruits and transfers meeting all our needs. With the offense... The Missouri motto is what I'm going with this year for our offense.

We lost to Memphis one year in part because we were down to RB#6 and RB#7 and some of us, myself included, questioned the ethics of the play calling as those players continued to play hurt.

What motto is that? “Missouri: At least our booze is cheaper than Oklahoma’s”?
Show me.

That was the exact year that came to mind when I wrote that.

We need 1 or 2 more transfers, Juco and/or portal.

At this stage the dynamics have moved from the players to the schools who still have available scholarships left.
