Tulsa w/ a 1st rd pick in the NFL Draft 2 years in a row and OU/Okie dokie St? zero.
Congratulations, tyler
The entire Big XII has had exactly 0 (ZERO) 1st round picks the last 2 years.

So here is a legit question we should discuss. It is obvious Monty and his staff are finding talent and developing it further. We've had 4 draft picks in the last 3 years which is more than I can remember for a long time. Monty is obviously surrounding himself with good to great assistant coaches as evidenced by Texas admin jumping on a plane in the middle of the night to fly here and try to lure 2 coaches there, Gillespie moving to the Big XII, other assistants moving on up. Seriously, when you look at things like this you start to wonder how in the world we are not winning 9 or 10 games every year.

This demonstrates why Monty is such a terrible game day coach. He's just not that bright. It's unfortunately true.

So should Rick Dickson and Brad Carson be asking Monty this question? Let's give Monty his due...he's recruited some good talent, he's developed some of those players into great players. He's recruited some good coaches who became great at what they do...even to his own detriment. He's obviously doing a lot of the right things with his program (and we rarely hear about a TU player who's acted like a jacka$$ away from the field...). What would make the program better? Is it as simple as hiring an actual play-calling OC to allow Monty to focus more on the things that we've been weak at? Special teams? Penalties and on field discipline?

How would the casual fan approach putting this in words to Rick and not sound insane?

If the man would just hire a play caller I’d be ok with Monty. But he won’t which is dumb
Yes he needs an OC that makes the actual game day play calling decisions. He needs to allow the new DC to do the same. He needs find a SP coordinator as well because this area has cost us at times.

It's a reminder that if Monty would quit being so damn stubborn with regard to handing off the offense to a coordinator, he could be very successful.

Final draft score:

AAC 19 picks
B-12 23 picks.

AAC was ahead through six rounds but B-12 had 7 players go in the last round. Only one player from the AAC Tulsa's own Paul.

GO TU!!!!!
