It will certainly be interesting to see which current players he can convince to stay. I hope that he could keep Anthony Prichard, Nikita Kon..., and Sterling Gaston-Chapman. They do need work, but I think that they would be great building blocks for the future.

I definitely don't mean to undermine your efforts Chris. I have a comped account from another site (SoonerScoop) and would have to sign up for a new account to access Hurricane Alley. I figured the guys on the Alley already knew. Keep up the great work.
No worries at all...was just letting folks know what we've had out there.

Do you like tough defense? With 4-years at U Wiskey-Platteville playing for Bo Ryan, I'll bet Konkel knows some tough D.

Konkol will have opportunity to fill anywhere from 7 to 10 schollies when this all over... A chance to rebuild this sinking ship for the future.

Is knowing what a stadium looks like full really an attribute?
The point I'm making is he experienced the program when it was at a high point. He understands what the expectations are at Tulsa. That is definitely a positive, as opposed to Doug Wojcik, who basically told me the program was lucky to have him and that TU fans' expectations were way too high.

What was Haith’s excuse?

So maybe we now have a coach we can call Coach "K"! :D

For sucking lol. Wojcik thought this level of school should be appreciative of how well he did. Haith sucked just as bad and we paid him more for it… he must have really thought we were suckers.
Haith was nothing but nice to me. Super easy to work with and generally accommodating. In our early discussions, he was very well versed on the history of the program...never seemed to have Doug's "I'm better than this place" attitude.

Not what I meant. I meant being nice or not nice doesn’t change the fact that they both sucked. Haith made a ton of excuses for himself just like Wojcik did. So one said “you should be happy I’m here” and the other said “my players don’t listen to me”

In both cases it was their own fault and they were just trying to obfuscate the fact that they were performing poorly. Haith just got paid a junk ton more to do it.

I don’t care if someone thinks they’re bigger time than the program… in fact I encourage it. “By all means, prove to me that I should be sorry to lose you like I was when Nolan left or when Tubby left, or when Self left…”

Thinking it is fantastic. Telling it to everyone that cares about TU basketball, doing it in a hateful manner, trashing former TU players in the process, is really not the best way to handle fans and folks in the media.

It also sucks that Eric Bailey was our beat writer during the Wojcik era. What I wouldn’t give for him to return to the TU beat.

He is one of the nicest men I’ve ever met and he had to cover an unappreciative d-bag.

If we had Bailey at the Tulsa World, Rivals, AND The Golden Hurricast all at once we would have some of the best coverage in the state. Can't complain about 2 of 3 though.

Bailey is a great guy...really enjoyed working with him. We shared info all the time. I chatted with him about 10 days ago...he wished me luck during the coaching search.

Here is what I have to say on this. I think this is a good hire. That said, A lot of you on here got absolutely belligerent about a coaching change. IF you and your WHOLE BLOODLINE are not at the Reynolds Center to welcome him today then you are wrong.
