I’ll take our opponent. Let’s end this nightmare.
We'll probably win, it'll probably be close, and it will just extend the misery till friday. I wish we'd just lose and get on with hiring a new coach. I don't really want to wait that extra day to hear about Haith being canned. If Haith managed to get to the semi's then I would gladly give in to I.I.'s moniker. I think he is running out of juice though.
It’s just a perpetuation of the mediocrity that we’ve seen in the past 6-7 years. If Monty had tanked this season like he had in past seasons, he probably would have been in a similar boat. He had a career saving year despite covid, Haith had an even worse than normal one. The shortened season and not having fans are things that other teams dealt with too.
There were also expectations given the team that Haith returned. 2 4 year seniors, an all conference star player, two high level transfers, and a host of role players. They should have performed better. It was clear that the team gave up on him at some point this season.
Biggest gripe: he can’t make the tournament given multiple 4 year recruiting cycles to get his own guys and year after year it’s another excuse. Whether or not he actually is fired will be a financial decision more than a coaching one.
