2 games this weekend - which gets the bigger crowd:

OU-UCLA
OSU-Tulsa

I’ll say that the OU game plays to the smaller percentage of capacity by a long shot.

Leave the hs games off since we know tu is close to if not a sellout.

It looks like we still have 2-3 thousand available, mostly end zone and corners. There appears to have been a lot of activity over the past week or so.

I just got tired of all the Pickens talk. Corporate takeovers and mismanaged companies sounds too much like work, which is what I try to avoid from time to time.

Just now looking at tulsahurricane.com and doing some rough figuring, there are about 1500 seats still available. And that's aiming toward the high side. (Does not include any box seats).

It's closer to 2000. I just counted 859 in the West . 6 or 7 in the East 1192 in the South.

There are a few more set aside for season ticket sales only. You’ll have to click the season ticket link to count those. It looks like the 3 game mini packs pull from the same inventory as the season tickets.

There are also a bunch of GA tickets available. The online system would let me order a hundred if I had 7,500 bucks. I’m not sure how to tell how many are still for sale.

I noticed there was a SRO section between the east side and south end zone. I wonder if that is included in the tickets remaining numbers?

Question:

Where will OSU's band be seated? Since our band was moved back to the south side I was wondering where the visitor band will go.

Hopefully in the parking lot. Can't stand their clown song fight song. "This is the way we wave, this is the waving song". Ugh. Only thing worse is Boomer Sooner on repeat on their TV broadcasts. Quite honestly the most annoying fight song in the country followed closely by SMU's "She'll be coming round the mountain", oh, and then A&M's "we are a giant straight line marching cult who loves dogs"

I prefer TU's and ND's to anyone else's. To be fair, ND's was my elementary school's just with the words replaced.

My HS ripped of "On Wisconsin" and changed the words to "On New Bedford". It flowed quite nicely. Of course Union uses Minnesota's and my son has been practicing it on his trombone so I've pretty much memorized that part. I think between Union, BA, Jenks, and Owasso they have much of the B1G and Notre Dame covered.

I think my high school used On Wisconsin also. It’s pretty popular.
I think a lot of the B1G fight songs along with Notre Dame and USC's are pretty iconic. Of course I also know Lake Superior State uses "Anchors Aweigh"...how do I know this? I went to the 1994 NCAA Ice Hockey Championship where LSSU scored 7 goals and beat Boston U 7-2. They played it almost non-stop the entire game (think OU overplaying Boomer Sooner in any given game). Ugh!

Always sounded like the circus was coming to town to me.

You know someone someday is going to end up using this:

There's some similarities between these two. Allegedly, the Minnesota State in the show was modeled after Mankato State University. Even the colors were similar.

Their wavy song does have a carnival sound to it. One way to ring in fair season I suppose.

The mighty Sapulpa Chieftains fight song....On Wisconsin as well.

Sapulpa uses On Wisconsin as well. As far as I know our high school fight song was unique, just like our nickname, and I always liked that.

I’m a fan of TU and ND’s as well.

Oddly enough neither my grade school nor HS had a fight song. Or if they did we never had a band to play it. So TU was my first school to have a song

Crack open that celebratory diet rite!

One quick comment on youth/prep sports.

For those of you with little ones, if they show any interest in team sports please consider volunteering some time to coach a team. It does make a difference in these kids lives.

Tonight, two of the young men that I helped coach when they were youngsters made some of the biggest plays of the game and I was almost as excited for them as their parents were. The games do take on a special significance when you personally know some of the players.

One big win this weekend and one to go.

And you guys are going to like Tulsa commit Hayden Grant. He’s feisty.

Go TU

So true man!
The kids I coached are sophomores at Owasso. Only Kelan is doing much right now but, I suspect that will change. And, I didn’t coach him directly. His skills are on him and his dad.
