Yeah, that's a disastrous loss for UCF.

UConn did win and they scored more points today than any game last season.

Tulane is within 4 against Florida State at the half.

Tulane's hanging with #17 Florida St. down 39-35 at half. First 12 or 13 min there wasn't much defense and they were trading baskets. Then Florida St adjusted on defense and Tulane went cold, didn't get a shot to go down for the last 6 or 7 min. If they had shot a little better from the free throw line it would have been closer though. They shot around 50% from the free throw line during that cold stretch. Florida St cooled down also, but if it keeps going the same direction, Florida will probably pull away a little bit and win. Sehic looks like he will be a load when we play Tulane.

He's the one who never really even considered TU, so it doesn't bother me at all if he's the leading scorer on a bad team. I don't know that the loss to Southern Miss signifies that SMU is going to be bad, seeing as how Doc Sadler has Southern Miss on the upswing. But I can always hope.

When you hitch a top 25 ranking (or pushing the top 25) on BJ Taylor, who has never been able to navigate an entire season without being hurt. Tacko is always over-rated because he's 7-foot ginormous. Igbanu seems to push him around pretty good. I've never seen Dawkins' son play so he gets a pass right now. This whole season seems to be setting up as UCF's equivalent of "The year we've been waiting for"

They are two games in to the season with a team that has never actually played together because of the injuries. It will take a few games to figure out how it works.

Despite that UCF should have won and this will go down as a bad loss. They will have to learn how to hold big leads something they haven't really experienced before.

SMU is an unknown until foster gets back. Their cupcake schedule looks like a good choice right now though. We'll see how they look come mid December.

I know nobody cares but ECU came back and beat Lamar in OT. That team looks completely different from last year. They did it with arguably their best player sitting out for rule violations and Dooley sat some of his stars because they weren't getting it done. Their freshman dropped 30 and 10.

Tulane was short handed but fought hard against a ranked Florida St squad. USF seems improved as well. The bottom of the conference is climbing.

Dooley commented that they struggled to fill the conference demands on scheduling so that might be part of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if ecu's staff preferred it. Lots of opportunities to work through things and see how people respond in game time. Then lots of practice time to work on the bad stuff and practice ways to exploit your strengths.

You could see Tulane elevating things the last couple of years. Sehic was a monster at times last year, see the game where Tulane trounced SMU in NOLA. He gave us fits at times too. Tulane's issue is whether or not they get good enough or even consistent guard play. They've been turnover prone the last few years.

ECU- I think Dooley will at least get them to a competitive level in the AAC. Remember this conference has 8 really good teams with a history of tradition in men's basketball, UCF who is relatively new but has been building their program over the last 8-10 years, and then Tulane, ECU, and USF. Dunleavy was a good choice for Tulane, and Dooley is apparently on the fast-track to making ECU respectable. The Orlando Antigua experiment at USF was a disaster so my guess is they're going to struggle a while longer.

SMU- It's not too long before they are consistently picked to finish 7th or worse in the AAC until they get rid of Jankovich.
