It was interesting for a while. Then it became clear that the reason it was written was to lobby for Pooh to succeed Haith. I guess that's the way "journalism" is these days. There is no such thing as writing to inform. Everybody has to have an angle.

Whenever Haith leaves the position, I’d have no problem with Pooh interviewing. However, unless he’s been a successful HC somewhere for a few seasons there will be more qualified coaches available.

But I’m sure he’ll get an opportunity.

I could go on, but those are just a few other topics he could cover. Further he doesn’t just take shots at TU during the off-season... it’s a pretty regular occurrence all throughout the year.

Good questions. I don’t have the answers. That’s why it’s not automatically his job in my eyes.

I’d think he could lure local kids because he can speak to what it’s like being from a nearby school and leading Tulsa to high levels. But I thought the same thing about Shea and that hasn’t resulted in anything thus far.

And I agree, I don't think the job should automatically be his just because he is a TU legacy.

I can attest that Pooh and Shea have very different personalities. Shea is pretty introverted from the times I met him while he was a student (I was a student at the same time). Pooh was the very first person I met on campus. Very outgoing, same giant smile that seems to greet everyone he meets. I used to work for Rec Sports when they had monitors over the different areas of Mabee Gym. Pooh made it a point to come over and introduce himself for no other reason than I was sitting there.

We've mentioned it several times, Rod is the one that has an absolutely magnetic personality. It's why he comes across well on TV and radio and I'm sure it plays well with kids he might be recruiting to PWP.

He and Kwanza Johnson darned sure didn't the first time around...That may
well have been the worst recruiting staff we have had in my memory....I made
it up to Tulsa and watched a couple of pick-up games before Caleb Green's
HS senior year at that sports complex on So. Memorial that doesn't exist any
more....I was stunned when we didn't take him....That recruiting decision may
have been our worst ever..(although I can remember a couple of others :joy

I keep wondering if Haith&Co. will ever land the 'Big One' that will tilt the
recruiting dial in our favor....I think you are more likely to find gold with under
recruited HS seniors (Dante Swanson, K. Johnson, Shaq, 'Juice', etal) than
ending up with over-recruited JUCOs.....

Agree. Unable to land the memorial twins or probably rod's son says a lot.
