If UConn can find a place to park it's football program then I assume it will happen. Would the AAC entertain Wichita State sans a D1 football program?

If your team sucks you lose relevance. Has nothing to do with the league your a part of. If we used that type of argument then Gonzaga should quit now.

Yeah.. but if Gonzaga were in a better conference then people might respect their record and give them the seeding they deserve..

UCONN"s AD just tweeted saying there was no truth to that rumor. Meaning we should hear something about their move pretty soon. If they go independent that is football suicide for them. Only reason Notre Dame and BYU get away with it is because they actually have tradition and can win/recruit and have tons of support from around the country.

Plus no FBS conference is going to take them as a football only member...maybe CUSA if they're that desperate but not sure that is what UCONN has in mind. I don't think the AAC would keep them on in football only since UCONN is a pillar of the basketball side of things. And UCONN has literally nothing in common with any of the Big East school's anymore. Decent size state university versus small to midsize Jesuits. If they go find a football member...maybe BYU is ready to jump in, and then add Wichita State to the basketball side

Big East would take them. That part is accurate. They aren't going, because they want to play FBS football. They just aren't a big enough football program to go independent. Hopefully, this can help the AAC get a renegotiation of our ESPN contract sooner.

I want air force and army in the AAC. Not amazing upgrades but it would be great to have all the academies here. Add Wichita State and VCU in basketball. UCONN can eat it. They add nothing for football and their recruiting sucks because they suck.

You say all four service academies? Are you referring to the Merchant Marine Academy or the Coast Guard Academy as the fourth?

No basketball only schools. The one thing CUSA got right was kicking out the b-ball schools.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy at New London, Conn., (the Bears) play in the New England Football Conference. Some of their opponents are Western Connecticut (conference champs last season) and Curry. Don't think they're ready for the AAC.

The firing of Diaco (FB coach) at UCONN should mean they are serious about stepping up in that sport. Why else would they replace him? If they are serious about FB, then they couldn't pick a better spot than the AAC right now.

There was a good article by Josh Jacobs in the Hartford Courant today. He had a one-on-one interview with the UCONN AD. The AD was adamant that there is no truth to this...they're not sure where the rumor came from, but the AD seemed aggravated to have to deal with it.

Their focus is to build up their football program. A move to the Big East would effectively end any hopes of this...
