Baseball players wrist

I was at the game yesterday and the players had some sort of watch device they were checking presumably getting signals. Did they address this on the broadcast? Is this allowed all year? Test balloon for conference play?

I just have never seen this before and was shocked to see them allowing electronic devices for signals. Don’t have a problem with it. Seems much easier. I just know how baseball is about new fancy things.
