Finishes -11 after shooting a 9 Under 61. With 39 players finished with Round 2, he leads by 2 over Harry Hall and 3 ahead of Matthew Fitzpatrick and Rory McIlroy who is on 17. A number of players are going low so -11 may not hold up but puts him in great position going into Round 3. He just needs to avoid that 1 bad round that has been an issue all season including the US Open.

Today he made 2 putts 20-30 feet, 1 40'+, and 141' of putts in total.

He's been knocking on the door for a few months now. He's due for a top 10. Hopefully he keeps grinding this week and gets into the Open (if he isn't already qualified).

He isn't on the current list of qualifiers.

Top 3 finishers this week automatically get into The Open if they aren't already qualified.

Just as important, a Top 3 will likely get him inside the Top 70 (he's currently 88th) in FedEx points, making him eligible for the Playoffs with 3 or 4 events left.

But first things first. He's still got 36 holes to play. Big fan not only because of RU, but he's a local Jersey Shore guy. Wish him the best.

P,S, I'm already PO'd. The announcers said he's from Oklahoma. 😡

I'll be rooting strongly for him over the weekend (I'm WhiteBus). I'll disappear of this board under this name tomorrow but go Chris!

Shot even par 70. Putts weren't falling like yesterday.

He's now tied for 1sr at 11 Under with some journeyman named Rudy or Rory McIlroy. They and Wyndham Clark are the final group as tomorrow's final has been changed to threesomes. I think possible weather issues.

He didn't have his best today, but he played pretty smart and grinded out an even par round. Missed a couple of birdie putts, but made a bunch of testers for par, especially after good chips.

The concern is for haar or a chilly, misty sea fog, which could be a visibility problem.

CG is 2 up with 2 to play after birdieing 16 while Rory just parred it and Penge is also 2 back with 1 to play. And this was after bogeying 15 after Gotterup was put on the clock (and rightly so - he's been slow - needs to work on that).

This does so, so much for his young career. Majors, FedEx Cup (he's now 39th), Signature events, and of course, a $1.6 million check.

Thought it might go south after the slow play warning but he held it together.

Way to go Chris!!!

When he bogeyed 15 after the slow play warning and then hit a bad drive on 16, I was worried he was going to yak, but he dug deep and made a huge birdie and closed it out. With his power/length, if he can consistently chip and putt like that, he's going to win some more tourneys (maybe even a major).

And there were holes where Rory was hitting it 20-25 yards past him lol.

There's golf, then there's a game these guys play.. Chris didn't carry a 3 Wood. He had Driver, 5 Wood, and 1 Iron instead.

The Open Tee Times are out.

Chris tees off at 8:15a their time, 3:15a EDT

He's paired with another former B1G Golfer of the Year (2015), Thomas Detry who played for Illinois, and Lee Westwood.

That would be great! He has been to a couple of basketball games over the past few seasons and was announced to the crowd. Some former RU golf team members sit in my row and he came up there to say hello to them. All nice guys.

Iowa game would fit. Tour has that weekend off with the Ryder Cup the following week.

If anyone knows someone in the AD, they might mention it.

+1 first round
He was doing really well. After a Birdie on 12 he was -2. Then from 13-16 his approach on Par 4's or tee shots on Par 3's missed the green. He ended up with 3 straight Bogeys but scrambled on 16 and pared out from there.

CG at -5 after a -6 65 today and tied with 4 others, 5 strokes back of Scottie, who's at -10. Should be a fun weekend - would be awesome to see Chris continue to play well and contend and maybe...

He made it thru the 4 holes I mentioned but it took a 20; putt and some addl clutch short game for him to play the four Even in total. IMO, if Chris is going to move up, it's not his length but rather his fine play around the green. For example Rory was sometimes outdriving him by 15-20 yards last Sunday but Chris's short game won the day.
