absolute must win today
hopefully Patrick is back... we need that guy.
Ahron Ulis is becoming one of my all time favorites

the challenge today.. outside of playing Rutgers... is :
"Officials today: Larry Scirotto, Doug Sirmons, and Keith Kimble."

this is gonna be a pain in the.. you know what.. trying to win playing 5 on 8.
but if the crowd is rowdy enough, perhaps they can keep the refs somewhat in check.
I'd love to see Fran go nuts early on in this one to set the attitude.

1 tech would be great.. 2 techs may be necessary

mysterious tech called on Rebraca... weird wild stuff.
my guess is he was talking back to the Rutgers guy that was calling him names.

34-32 Hawkeyes

interesting strategy here by the refs... they seem to be calling a lot of fouls on Rutgers.
but to be fair... Rutgers is fouling every time down the court.
Hawkeyes are winning 61-53

Gotta give credit to Aaron Uhlis for his improved play. He is getting some more scoring going and is taking better care of the basketball. Much more under control with his play.
Great to get P Mac back as well. A supporting role for him, where he hits 3's, can drive the lane under control and draw some fouls, scrap for the ball under the rim and play defense is crucial. Truly a team effort for this team. One or 2 different guys star every night. Need somebody different to step up every game.

I never thought Uhlis would become a reliable scorer. I was wrong. The young man is blossoming at a great time. And having PMac return with such a flourish was pretty impressive too. Congrats to both guys and to the entire team for blasting the nation's 4th best defense by scoring 93 points. It was an ugly game at times, especially early, but overall, a great start to the home stand for the Hawkeyes.

BTW: Another quiet but crucial performance from Josh Dix. What a great shot he has to go with his calm demeanor. Coming back from that nasty broken leg, he's another young man who deserves a lot of credit and who seems to have a great future.

Dix has been totally reliable and must have icewater in his veins. Mighty impressive for a freshman. His BB IQ is sky high. Smart player.
