Pretty weak. Plain block letters rank from nice down to terrible. Makes no sense.

That said ISU belongs near the bottom.

This!!
The only reason there is a different ranking for those various block letters are the teams associated with those logos. What exactly is the difference between the Rutgers R and Michigan M.... To be ranked that different.

I'd have the SMU logo much higher too.

What exactly makes the USC logo "nice", but Baylor, Kentucky, and Houston "very bad".

Same exact logo conce, just different colors and letters.

We can all agree that the ISU logo is crap. Their old cardinal in a tornado was much better.

Any simple use of "State" is pretty bland. That covers a good chunk of the teams in college athletics. Nothing unique about it.

Always thought the Miami "U" thing was overrated for the same reason. "The U"...as in the university? Yeah, they're all universities.

West Virginia is just block letters too, but I think it should bump a level. The letters interlock in a unique way which kind of mimics the way the states of Virginia and West Virginia fit together. Certainly as good as the simple single block logos above it.

Clemson's paw print is up there for top tier in my book. Michigan St. to the top. Probably throw Tulane's Green Wave up there too.

For the rest of the list:
Virgina up to the next level.
Alabama down one.
Nebraska down 2 (it's a red N)
South Carolina down 2... too busy.
Utah up 1
Colorado up 2
K St. Up 1
Rutgers up 1

I honestly agree with all you. Iowa St. could do something cool and they made their logo boring.

You guys can't be serious about Tulane. It looks like a freakin' Jr High logo.

It's just so different. It's a green wave... what else can they do?
Dunno, I'm not a huge graphic artist. But seriously, THIS is one of the best logos in college football? Come on. According to WIKI since 1998 their mascot has been a pelican.
