It may be a while until the HB thread is migrated over so thought I’d start a new one.

*this is the closest I could find to an existing Keegan thread here at On3:

An old article, the first one, but a good one. I remember being happy.

No contract extension for Keegan yet. Are we looking at what we saw last season with DeMar "Iso-Ball"? Many are saying the roster is not balanced, and much of the scoring by the vets will further limit scoring opportunities for Keegan and others. Will Dennis Shroder make a difference? I think he will as a true PG. In spite of Keegan's success on the defensive end, will we see better team defense? Scott Perry pushes defense so we'll see. Nice article below that I found.

He's been a disappointment.
He has been disappointing in the PPG column and 3 PT % column, but his defensive capabilities and rebounding has kept him in the game after year 3. Now, that said, will he get a reasonable amount of shot opportunities? If he does, can he capitalize on those? Only time will tell. This is going to be his contract defining season if he's not extended this off season.

He's been a disappointment.
Only in the 3 pt column and PPG. In 2023-24 he averaged 15.2 PPG on 45% shooting, and last year he averaged 12.4 PPG on 44% shooting. If he hits his 3's, he's probably close to the 17 PPG everyone expected from him this past year. He's not a total disappointment as you imply. He also averaged 1 blocked shot per game. I'll add nearly 7 rebounds/game also.

Since the "How's Keegan Doing" thread is still on the HB board, I'll use this for now. I wondered why Scott Perry hired BJ Armstrong as assistant AD. My guess was that BJ had extensive experience as an agent, but never in a front office that I know of, and now gets a shot at something much bigger. I'm listening to the Deuce and Mo podcast, and find out that Perry is also from Detroit. Found it interesting. So now, we have some sort of Detroit connection. Whatever the case, could it be a marriage made in Heaven? Certainly hope so.
No, you'll use this one since I took the time to create it.

Here's Matt with a good Keegan analysis. "Get yours" attitude, improve the scoring average, and get that 3 PT % up, and he should be fine. Need to do these things as we're going to see plenty of shots from LaVine and lots of "ISO" from DeRozan. Want to see Keegan, when on, get a little selfish.

Well, here's the latest rumor for the Kangz. Kuminga offered a starting role? Should Keegan be concerned? Good grief.

For years, the Sacramento Kings have struggled due to a lack of size and athleticism, especially at the forward positions. But new GM Scott Perry has a goal to address that team need this offseason to help move Keegan Murray to a different spot in certain lineups.

Yeah, let's see what happens before training camp. Eubanks has played more at the center spot than power forward. I guess you could try him at the 4. Then you have Raynaud who is a true 5, and I can see him off the bench for Domas. Isaac Jones has shown big time improvement at the G-League level. They picked up Dario Saric' from GS, so he will probably see time at the 4, but he's been in the league 10+ years and only played in 16 games last year. So, there are some options there. If I were a betting man, I'd say Keegan is still going to start at the 4 most games.

The Athletic's John Hollinger walked through all of the NBA's 2022 draft class who are eligible for extensions, and laid out what Murray's is expected to look like. Hollinger believes Murray will get a deal worth around $100 million over four years.

In a potential trade for Trae Young, the Kings could send DeRozan, Malik Monk, Devin Carter and a first-round pick in 2027 and 2029 to the Hawks in exchange for their superstar guard.

Despite this, a package centered around two veterans in Monk and DeRozan may not be enough for Atlanta to make this trade as they would likely want one of either
Keegan Murray or Keon Ellis in return.

While that may be the case, the Kings have shown no interest in moving Murray or Ellis as they view them as key parts of their future but to land Young, they may have to include one of them in a trade package.

That's what's so provocative about these off season trade scenarios, every reporter and analyst has their own mock. I could see letting Monk, DeRozan, and Carter go for Young. The Kings have Shroder now and still have Ellis and Nique Clifford. If they could land Trey Young, they could hypothetically move Ellis to the Shooting Guard position, which would place Young and Sheoder at the Point. Meanwhile, Clifford could maybe get some minutes off the bench while he develops and adjusts to this level as a backup. At no point do I see Keegan or Ellis be included in a trade, unless you go for the caliber of a Giannis or Gilgeous-Alexander which will forever be welded to OKC. Still waiting for the Keegan extension. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that he may get 4 years/125 mil. I'm probably wrong, but screw it lol.

This is just another example of writers writing articles to fill in trade scenarios in an offseason, which is slow right now following most of the moves made by teams. Yahoo Sports is carrying yet another scenario proposed by Athlon Sports. This one sends Monk, who by the way was picked up by Sacramento from the Lakers in 2021. They're proposing sending him back to the Lakers for Hachimura. I do think that Rui would be a great pick up for the Kings, as he would fill the PF depth Sac needs, but sending Monk back to LA doesn't make sense to me, as Luka Doncic' will be playing a ton of Iso-Ball at the point for one thing, and they already have Austin Reaves and Max Christie at SG.

By now, some of you know that BJ is the Assistant General Manager of the Kings. Here's something you may not know. Who was Fran's biggest fan? Well, this man is Doug Christie's Assistant Coach.

Enjoy!!

The Kings are having Terence Davis back for training camp and preseason. For those of us who have followed the team since Keegan was drafted, we've enjoyed TD and what he brings. He suffered a bad injury (Achilles maybe?) and hasn't seen much action. Fans will love having him back, and hopefully he ends up in Stockton.

I hope Keegan gets traded to golden state for Kuminga
I don't think that will ever happen. GS is having a tough time moving JK to the other one or two teams that have interest in him. GS would rather have Malik Monk in a Kuminga trade.

I'm not expecting it 2 happen, but I really think it would be good for Keegan, Kuminga, and both teams assuming it can work salary cap wise.

If Kuminga signs his qualifying offer, it’ll be for $7.9 million. Murray is currently at $11.1 million. I believe GSW would not be over the cap for that trade, and the Kings would have Kuminga’s bird rights.

Kuminga apparently is open to signing the QO. Would be great for Murray to get the hell out of Sacramento.

Agree with him leaving Sactown.
