Just read an article about Rory in Golf magazine. Michael Bamberger was the author and mentioned a story about him trying to schedule a tee time with Rory's dad, Gerry (at a local public course in South Florida). Rory's dad said he wanted to play Seminole instead. That is kind of douche thing to say but sheds a little light into maybe where Rory gets his influence.

For a guy that likes to talk when things are good, he has shown himself to not be so great otherwise.

My point is his dad feels a little entitled based on his request. If someone offered you a free round, would you essentially stick your nose up and request a round at a place the author probably cannot accommodate? That would be like turning down Ballyowen and requesting Baltusrol instead.

Rory not even calling Jack is very poor manners. Just like his dad. His dad was his biggest influence.

He is Rory’s dad. If you are inviting him to a round of golf, you don’t book a tee time at a muni. I’m sure Rory’s dad doesn’t care that it was free.

Last I played Canoe Brook it was good enough to host a qualifying. Congrats to them!

Today's 72 player field at the Memorial only had 13 players break par. Jack is keeping that course tough!

I think CB is a regulart in the rotation. I believe they play 18 on each of the 2 courses. I know for sure last year it was. There was an article about Gotterup (with the RU coach on his bag) missing a playoff for the last spot when he bogeyed the Par 5 18th. Greyserman was 1 of 4 who qualified.

Chris and Thorjbornsen (if he's recovered from an injury last week) are 2 tour players in the field.

So Gotterup shot 71-65 (-6) to finish tied with the Korn Ferry Tour's Roberto Diaz for 2nd, earning a spot in the US Open. Thorjbornsen, John Pak, and Andrew Svboda were among current or former Tour Pros who didn't qualify at Canoe Brook.

Rutgers Argyle Downes, who jut finished his Frosh season as a starter from Day 1, started off well with a 70 but shot 77 in the 2nd round and failed to qualify.

Middletown's Ryan McCormick, who is back with Korn Ferry after a year on the big tour, was the medalist in his qualifier so Monmouth Co now has 2 in the Open.

LIV bots on X are hinting at some big news coming, rumors of another player about to jump ship.

Granted, they make these claims all the time and most of the time it's nothing.

Could it be the signing of Spain's Josele Ballester who just finished up at Arizona St? He's the defending US Am champ but hardly a "Wow" addition most golf fans would take notice of.

He's probably better known for taking a leak in Rae's Creek during the 1st Round of the Masters.

Normally I think Rory is off his rocker, especially not calling Jack Nicklaus that he wasn't playing in the Memorial. However, on this single issue he is 100% right. Almost every week there are drivers taken out of play and there is no uproar. Add in the fact that Sheffler's driver was also found illegal the same day and most media outlets ignored that fact. That actually was the bigger story!

Scottie is the golden child and the media needs a bad guy. Rory has done a couple things that the media didn't like so he's in their cross hairs.

Leaderboard at RBC is a big woof. Hopefully some of the big names get back into it today. It’s nice to see some new names and stories, but you would think at least one top player would step up.

I am curious who with the Tour or with the testing group leaked it to those two reporters. We will never find out but it still would be interesting to see who did it.

Was the tour supposed to keep it confidential or the press? I thought it was the latter. I think this is a tune up for the big names before the US Open. The no name guys are trying to play their way in.

Also it’s not like these guys don’t get their clubs tweaked and built on a regular basis. As you know it’s not unusual for these guys to go to the range and practice rounds with multiple driver/fairway wood set ups in their bag.

My understanding is that the press is supposed to keep it confidential, not the PGA. I’m pretty sure these guys use don’t want too many variables and sticks with their set.

Re: equipment. Once you find something that works, you stick with it. Players that change often probably have swing issues.

My understanding is that most players don’t give their primary club up for testing anyway.

Rory camp didn't take offense, Rory did just this week. For all the crap the media since it became a nothing story! And he did it because he was right. Again I'm not a Rory homer guy. But on this topic he was 1000% correct. They post this stuff every week for a few years and all of a sudden it's "Rory cheating" stupidity.
This is not about getting the clubs twerked! It about over use of today's new drivers that the face softens and becomes a more flexible face.

No never thought he was cheating. It was about beating the clubs face into not being within limitations. Probably drivers and fairway woods don’t conform very long with how hard these guys are swinging.

Yea irons last. Woods don’t last. And loft adjustments. Are always in play. Like I said not uncommon to see pros hitting 2-3 drivers on the range for what that course requires for the week.

Yes and it's not uncommon that drivers are tossed out weekly but the media made this about trying to take down Rory when ignoring the fact that Scotty failed the same day. A topic that needs no attention was blown way out of proportion!

It's not as big of a difference like it was when I was growing up.

Anyway the forecast is calling for a typical Open weather with some bad weather and some tolerable weather with windy conditions at times. Everyday has a good chance of rain. Saturday as of now looks to be the better day with lighter winds. Like all Opens the forecast can change with everyday

Yes the big difference is long passed. So much so that the current R&A top man was favoring The Open's next added venue will be Portmarnock outside of Dublin. That would be fitting for the change between the two countries on the same island.
