Or the bridge was too short. Or it was a moon tide?It appears it was too tall.
Given the bridge was too short, the ship was too tall.Or the bridge was too short. Or it was a moon tide?
You beat me to it. We think very alike. Why wasnt the height of the bridge adjusted for the ship?Or the bridge was too short. Or it was a moon tide?
BBC???Apparently it's a Mexico Navy training ship.
BBC >> Mexican Navy ship crashes into New York City's Brooklyn Bridge
they couldn’t figure that out? wtf??It appears it was too tall.
the captain of the ship will find a way to play the victim. You beat me to it. We think very alike. Why wasnt the height of the bridge adjusted for the ship?
BBC???
Every cloud has a silver lining.Just wait until DJT finds out the ship’s charts noted Rio de Pancho Villa. ICE will raid the Mexican embassy before sunrise with all staff deported to El Salvador in time for almuerzo.
Two dead, 19 injured - some critical. Unconfirmed reports that the ship lost power.
USS Constitution says "hello"Mexican Navy still using sailboats?!
I’d imagine it was Tied up at Pier 17 and was backing out and then lost power. Rule of thumb is that every knot of current is equivalent to 10 knots of wind for how current can create a force on a ship. Looks like wind was moving pretty good too. Wind and current combination and close proximity to the bridge makes for short reaction time to drop anchor after losing power.
From what I am reading online people involved in shipping are ripping the decision to use only one tug, not tied to the ship, with the wind and current conditions both pushing it towards the bridge.
Does the fact that there is even a tug involved dispute the loss of power theory? From what I am reading online people involved in shipping are ripping the decision to use only one tug, not tied to the ship, with the wind and current conditions both pushing it towards the bridge.
Thanks for the keen assessment, Magellan.Does the fact that there is even a tug involved dispute the loss of power theory?
It sure seemed like after crashing through the bridge it landed pretty softly on the other side. I thought it was going to crash into the dock as well.
I dunno.
In Mexican Spanish, lunch is called comida. Main meal of day in Mexico lasting from 2pm to 4 or 5pm. Often lots of alcohol consumed.Just wait until DJT finds out the ship’s charts noted Rio de Pancho Villa. You're welcome. I'll help in any way I can. Thanks for the keen assessment, Magellan.
Hope you’re on the NTSB investigation team.
And this is how threads get derailed...Mexican pirate ship crashes into Brooklyn Bridge and the Muslims flee.
Never heard of Joe, so I looked him up. At the time of the Exxon Valdez disaster, Joe's drivers' license was suspended for his third driving while intoxicated conviction.Anyone know what Joe Hazelwood is up to these days?

How does a guy with three DWIs and a suspended drivers' license get a gig captaining an oil tanker?
