The unofficial, or official if you're from New Jersey, kickoff to summer
What's everyone's plans for MDW?

Friday - Work half day, pick up or daughter up from school and then watch copious amounts of Softball super regionals and baseball conference tourney's. Was supposed to head down to Tallahassee for Supers but opted to head down for baseball regionals next weekend instead.

Saturday - Church breakfast in the morning, then BBQ with family in the afternoon. Try to mix in some more baseball / softball and NCAA final 4 lacrosse in between burgers, dogs, steaks, wine and Crabby's ginger beer
Sunday - Church, then softball and lax on TV with a sprinkle of Mets for good measure

Monday - Annual Memorial Day parade in Farmingdale. We tried the Freehold one 2 years ago; was good but prefer the Farmingdale version as it's a bit later in the day (1 pm start vs. 11 am start), smaller / quainter, and closer to home. Probably pack a few cold ones in the portable cooler before heading over, they close the streets at Noon and the parade begins at 1:00, so that hour waiting can be a tad boring without some libations to pass the time. Head home in time to hopefully catch the 2nd half of the lax finals.

What say you, any plans for MDW?

Is this another one of those federal holidays they only really celebrate in NJ 😄
I think so. Nobody I've ever spoken to gets as jazzed up as we do about it
Even my coworkers in New England really don't GAS about it like us

We know better...
I'm telling you, college softball is awesome
I contemplated heading down to Rowan to catch the D3 softball super regionals in Glassboro, but today's games are rained out and rescheduled for tomorrow

I don't how they stand in there and hit some of those pitches - seems next to impossible at that velocity, spin and short distance.

Hand/eye coordination and bat speed at that level is amazing
It's like lacrosse, I don't know how they do it

A trip to the cemetery to visit the WWII heroes from my family.

Monday probably catch some of the Band of Brothers marathon.
Excellent ways to mark the day. I still wish HBO would go back to running Taking Chance on Memorial Day like they did in the past. I know you can get it on demand, but it's not the same.

Don't drive anywhere
Watch West Point graduation (online) with president as speaker
That's a reason not to drive anywhere (security and traffic)

First year no real BBQ since many are on trips. Not only do kids get off Monday but schools are closed on today, Friday.

Tom Cruise movie on Saturday. Wind Creek on Sunday. BBQ spare ribs and cooking the ShopRite ham from Easter.

Have to agree.I totally enjoy the Ladies play SB.Most of them play very well efficiently. I would rather watch college SB and baseball than MLB

Memorial Day Classic baseball tournament.

It's our son's first multi-day tournament.
Saturday is pool play.

Apparently our Sunday could be 1 game or 5 games depending upon how the bracket shakes out.
Either starting at 8am or 2pm.

We are doing the same, only the one day Memorial Day tourney, 8U. We're guaranteed 2 games saturday, if we make the finals it's a 3rd

If it's on, I'm watching.

Powerful.

For those who haven't seen it or know what it's about:
