OT: The Shine Is Off Coach Prime

Since you brought up ISU, made a note in another thread about Matt Campbell. Seems a lot of people think he is great, but his overall record for the 8-10 years he has been coaching does not seem to be fantastic. Had a couple of rough years in 2022-23, and he's having a good year this year. Thoughts on him?
I just responded to that post lol.

Big 12 is just terrible. This is the same Colorado team that was dominated by Nebraska.

Hew's a good coach in a program hard to make ab elite one.
Campbell will have some very good teams because of his coaching but always just under what's considered elite. because of the type of talent willing to go to a program like ISU if a name brand offers.
Sometimes Campbell won't be able to get the best out of his players (injuries and/or talent on team) and down years will be the result
He's putting himself ( if he wants to leave for a bigger payday) in a position where name brands will be looking at him like they did before 2022-23.
At 44 he has miles left on him and that's a plus for a name brand looking to find a HC that has a winning resume

Seems like Coach Prime's glow is fading. Watched a bunch of the 2nd half of the game against Stanford and Colorado does not look like a team that is playing well at all. Of course, when you're head coach doesn't actually coach 'em up it's harder to fight through adversity.

Do they turn it around and qualify for a bowl game or

Almost everyone called that Cuse would have a good record this year.

As for Coach Prime- it’s funny, he is the one person that is less annoying if they are winning.
That said- be careful of what they may be. They don’t really have a signature win.

Who have they beaten that was any good? I saw the entitled kid QB throwing his teammates under the bus after Nebraska beat them.

He did take some questionable shots today but this is crazy. I'm praying my team does not draft him

Bad move by Shedur but he was obviously upset about a late hit with player falling on his neck (which in Rugby is known as a paralysis risk injury). Did late hit get penalized? Probably a sloppy game from officials.

Appears that KU #94 fell on top of him upon being pushed from behind by a CU player (looks like #67) who came running over. That KU guy was basically just standing over the pile but not piling onto it since his other three teammates already got the QB to the ground.

There was also a hit at his legs that was quite dirty but don’t think Kansas got flagged on it. The hit was posted in the game thread.

Tv ref also said lucky that he didn’t get thrown out for shoving the ref even though you can see why he was upset. You can’t lay hands on and push the official.

Kansas didn’t punt the ball once the whole game lol. They scored like on every possession. That looked like the defense last year rather than the marginally improved defense they've showed this year. Kansas and Neal ran over them. I mentioned earlier this would be a tricky game because Kansas isn’t nearly as bad as its record. All 1 score losses and many lost 4th qtr leads.

Colorado doesn’t control is destiny anymore. They need help to get to B12 title game.

The guy that fell on him was pushed by Shedurs team mate. A sloppy game from officials does not mean you can push an official. Horrible look

True about the push but the pushed player got pushed because he pushed Shedur's head into the ground.
Anyone who touches a ref should be tossed.
Prime has his team playing too provocative but other teams can play them dirty too.
Best thing for Prime's kids would be to go play for another coach and not take liberties because daddy is HC

All night - after the fist picks - the guys doing the NFL draft show kept saying Shedeur was the best player not being picked - and that he's not a day 2 player. That was all true.

The Giants signed Russell Wilson who had constant issues with coaches at Denver and Pittsburgh. Shedeur is not the cancer the media blitz made him out to be. He's actually known to be quiet and on shy side. I think there are people who hate/fear Prime so much they take it out on Shedeur. On a half competent team Prime would be their biggest fan. He might not like the media but he's never been a team mugger

when you build a brand before you build a career.....right there in a nutshell.

He already has 6-7 million in NIL deals - including Nike, Gatorade, Under Armour, Beats, Google, Mercedes, Brady and others.
He the tops on 100 NIL and is ahead of Livy Dunne, Travis Hunter and Bronny James (Cam has around 2 million).
Careers start in college now and Shedeur is doing well.

"Given all of the negativity heaped on Sanders in the weeks leading up to the draft – including shots from anonymous sources who attacked him as arrogant and entitled -- I’m having a hard time shaking the feeling that the snub went beyond football...Shedeur is flashy, for sure. Like father, like son, in that regard.

If that’s what tipped the scales for some teams – and especially the New York Giants – then shame on them."

Probably not a cancer and ,might have the talent to start after sitting on bench gaining NFL experience his rookie season.
What probably made NFL teams feel he wasn't worth a first round choice was 1) his Colorado pro day performance, the sacks he took playing for Colorado trying to more than he should have instead of throwing it away , his perceived swagger and the possibility of his daddy mouthing off blaming everything but his son when things go wrong for Shedeur, making the organization look bad .
Then there's the fact all though Shedeur's HS and College years daddy was his head coach who making sure his son had everything built to make Shedeur look good and Shedeur had the type of talent to thrive in a program built for him.
Shedeur, in my opinion, has the type of talent to be a successful NFL QB,but he needs time to learn how to use that talent to its best and minimize his flaws before being handed the starting role to be a success in the NFL

It could be that Sanders just grades as a 2nd round pick. Not the strongest arm, drifts in the pocket, size.
Many draft analysts say this. I posted some breakdowns in the Giants thread. A few said otherwise like Kiper but he seemingly just posts for clicks now. I don’t see him breaking down All 22 film.
After the Giants selected Dart Sanders was like tweets that were bashing the Giants. Kid has the maturity of a 13 year old.

Did you watch the Super Bowl last Feb - the 40-22 KC beatdown?
KC couldn't run and just gave-up trying - 49 yds for the game.

Because of that Philly just rushed Mahomes on every play - the secondary didn't have to sweat the box.
KC gave-up 6 sacks and 6 TFLs - Mahomes threw 2 INTs
Not having a run game is killer for an OL and QB and - every play becomes a fire drill for off-the-hook DL.

Shedeur faced that practically every game
134th run game in CFB and 43 sacks allowed.
He had DL/LB in his face every play and WRs were swarmed .
Yet he didn't make panic throws - a quality the non-experts call "holding the ball too long."

Despite that he lead all CFB accuracy with 74% and 4150 yds, 37TDs to 10 INTs
Put Cam and Dart on that team with those weaknesses.
Anyone who actually knows about playing QB knows how hard it is to shine with no run and leaky OL.
All I kept reading was "he taps the ball" - a timing thing many other pros say is not a problem.

These days, I know what a media hit job looks like, and I knew I was watching one since draft experts had Shedeur as #1 back in Jan.
I know Deion can have a big mouth with media but I'm 100% that any team that drafted Shedeur would have had Prime as #1 fan

Here is the truth- no one knows how either career plays out. and not sure if RG3 knows either.

To me, Sanders does look like he can be good on specific teams. I have no idea if Dart can.

But- the entire league passed on Sanders. And pert of the problem may be that there just weren't many QB's taken yet. And once a guy like Sanders starts dropping- teams either say, "hmmmmm no one else sees it in him" or "I can hang on to my next pick and see if he is still there"
Sanders just does not jump out as a generational, sure fire pick. Heck- I can see Ward out of the league in 3-4 years too. The QB class just sucks this year.

So- that said- watching Prime give the pageant clap for Hunter was cringe worthy

The kid's father was a complete pain in the *** his entire career. It was difficult for his teams to deal with ... and he was the greatest defensive back in NFL history. Nobody is interested in spending draft capitol on a kid (and his pain in the *** family) when he is likely to be both an average NFL QB and a complete pain in the *** his entire career. What's the best case scenario? He becomes a HOFer, you try to franchise tag him and he sits out until you trade him? No thanks.

could be his last name made him into a first round pick by some despite his flaws .
Also playing in a system designed around his talent since his high school days and having his father making sure the system played in would make him look better than he really is could have been a red flag when NFL scouts graded first round talent.
But all in all he has a lot of talent, he's just not ready for prime time in the NFL,yet and needs proper seasoning to bring out the talent he has and minimize his flaws to make it as a starter .in the NFL

No one is saying this because it would expose some of the haters for what they really are: anti-Deion Sanders. Shedeur is catching strays mainly because of his father. He has first-round talent, but teams are trying to send a message. I think Deion was aware of this and advised Shedeur not to attend the draft so as not to embarrass himself at the expense of teams mocking Sanders' name. Even Shiloh will find free agency tough, although he is borderline pro material.

Most of the sacks were on him. He had 3 seconds to throw and that is more then then the supposed top 8 QB's coming out this year.
He ranked 38th out of 44 draft eligible QB's for average depth of completion. That greatly inflated his completion percentage.

He liked McCoy's post I read. How bout showing some maturity. There is one reason why RG3 is saying these things.

He pushed a ref in a game this season. Some say because he got hit dirty that game. Players get hit dirty in every game. You dont see them pushing a referee.

Yes, but it is reasonable to be anti-Deion Sanders. The guy was me-first his entire career and displayed no loyalty whatsoever. It is reasonable to believe he has installed that same mindset in his son (and the reports about the pre-draft interviews strongly suggest it). If you're an NFL team, why wouldn't you run away from that as quickly as possible?

Anyone stop to think that it's just a meh QB draft class? Doesn't matter what their college stats were if they don't really translate well at the pro level.

It's a terrible QB class. Dart and McCord are the only ones with potential as quality starters, imho.
