F the practice BS. This is the same BS posted around here for years while the Qb have been under utilized/developed for years. Most other top college FB teams give their #2 Qbs a chance and some time in games to see what they can do. Never here. Not with this 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense.

The LITTLE bit we saw of him in games he didn't miss the throws, made decent decisions, and ran well. WHAT we ACTUALLY got to see of him because God forbid he looked better than the dude we made the deals with. (and yeah that goes ALL the way back to Cubit and his dad and Chad Scwenk. Schiano has NEVER had a clue about Qb management and development in his what near 20 years here as a D and former linebacker at Bucknell).

It was reported here that AS was #2 going into camp. I've seen him in limited action in a real game.
I've not seen AJ.
I've heard fans gush over guys like Gavin, Art, Dc, etc. (here's a nice list)... I've seen some of Rutgers BEST QBs ever. This guy is clueless when it comes to that spot. and YES, THAT is MY OPINION.

As to Shepard I thought he showed promise and think he can be a good qb somewhere. Really would have felt better with him on the roster.

As to Surace, I did not see him in hs and the spring game play appeared to show a smaller and less physically gifted player than would be expected. Didnt appear small like Dodd but a playmaker. Appeared to be well schooled but physically limited for the B10. Very small sample, but some concerns based on that sample. Perhaps he's grown and had strenght gains-hopefully.

Disappointing. It is a shame he did not get more opportunities last year as the backup, not good roster management. Four passes in two years, all completions. With his size we should have had a wildcat package for him and at least tried it against the cupcakes. Hope Surace is looking good, I didn't see much in the last spring game but realize he should have still been in HS. Time to look at the portal for someone with experience, right now and injury would be devastating.

They are not going to the portal...lol. No good QB is going to go somewhere to be the backup.

This is no different than last year when it was Athan, Ajani and AJ. They will roll with Athan, AJ and the freshman.

If you listen to their last podcast Shepard was the 3 and being battled for that spot. So being the 3/4 he decided to move on.

In the new era it's going to be very hard to hang on to depth once the two deep gets set, especially if there are guys that are your age or younger ahead of you on the depth chart.

The more I read about the pending NIL decision, players with a slim chance of playing professionally are advised to enter the portal to secure the biggest NIL they can. Right now, the amount a player can receive is unregulated. The belief is that once the judge issues her ruling, the amount a player can earn from NIL will be limited as the entire spending amount per athletic department is expected to be $20.5 million to start. The revenue sharing will increase, but the judgment will have only a 10-year lifespan, and then it will become the wild, wild west again.

He was #2 going in because Surace never played last year due to his injury. It was a formality more than anything else and he was apparently getting pushed by the freshman for the QB3 role.

They were caught in a no win situation with Vedral getting hurt and Simon being flawed as well. They rolled the dice with Gavin and it would have backfired almost like Sitkowski as a green frosh except we had a strong D and Monangai emerged as a stud RB.

WV coaches said White's best plays were the ones he invented on his own and not the ones the coaches taught him. He could not have done that as a cog in the RU machine. Greg wants a quick hit, chippy, pass game nibbling at the sidelines and middle crease.

I can't even remember AK doing anything not predictable off the weird mesh.

Just a reminder that most of those coaches then get fired for being bad at their jobs.

Not saying the fans are always right about the backup QB.
But I wouldn't summarily say that any HC/OC/DC is always making the best choices just because they have the job.

HC Ash's job depended upon winning & playing the best at every position, know who is best & play them.
