Wrong - Trump started talking about the unequal tariff issue over 40 years ago. He made it a clear campaign promise. He won the election. Deal with it and see where we are in 12-18 months.Trump started his Tariffs nonsense Jan 26th. On Feb 1st, he announced a 30 day pause. The bottomline is, everyone is maintaining, no one is initiating new projects, and there are a ton of people looking for work on LinkedIn.
Many believe we are headed towards a recession.
Jamie Dimon says a recession is a likely outcome from the tariff turmoil
Many of those people are still looking for jobs. Point being, the tariffs issue is making it more difficult for job seekers as companies are reluctant to spend money.Banks started getting rid of people over a year ago and if had nothing to do with tariffs or the current president.
I can’t access the article, but in any case, until companies actually start hiring, it doesn’t mean anything. MSFT, AMZN, META, HP, GOOG, and CRM are examples of tech companies that have already laid off or about to layoff thousands, not due to tariffs. Then you have the DOGE government cuts, which also adds more competition to the market. Then you have the job losses directly tied to tariffs.anyone can find an article supporting whatever view they like but look at all these companies adding jobs and manufacturing in the US! #WINNING!
I haven’t felt this negative about the U.S. economy and Rutgers basketball in a very long time:
Ray Dalio, the billionaire founder of the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates, saidin a Sunday interview with NBC News: “Right now we are at a decision-making point and very close to a recession, and I’m worried about something worse than a recession if this isn’t handled well.”
Lawrence Summers, the former Treasury Secretary during President Bill Clinton’s term, said in a Monday editorial podcast in The New York Times he believes it’s “six in 10 or better that a recession will start this year,” explaining: “The pause is certainly better than if we had simply charged along on the catastrophic path that we’re on, but anybody who thinks the genie is back in the bottle and that it’s all now OK should reconsider their position.”
Last week, Summers predicted such a downturn would leave an additional 2 million Americans unemployed, a more than 28% increase from the 7.1 million unemployed Americans in March, and a $5,000 or greater decline in annual household income.
If you're not comfortable sharing, that's fine. But what line of work/industry is your wife in? Also, I am wondering if this is a byproduct of how resumes are combed through and weeded out with technology these days. I guess the way things are done now reinforces the need for networking and personal connections. My wife was out of work for 13 months. Awful job market. Applied to over 500 jobs. Lots of auto AI rejections. Many were immediately after applying, so a human clearly never looked at it. It was a really frustrating and demoralizing process but mercifully she just got a job last week, putting the saga to an end. I don't envy anyone looking for work right now.

Then there is the risk of further job losses due to tariffs.
More than 5.6 million jobs could be at risk due to Trump’s latest economic policies, particularly the trade war with tariffs imposed on Canada and China, a recent story from the Washington Post reported.
It is tough out there, and consumer confidence is plunging.
And recruiters. My industry is full of high-quality recruiters that have relationships with HR departments and hiring managers. If you get on their list, they will get you interviews. If you're not comfortable sharing, that's fine. But what line of work/industry is your wife in? I’m not feeling any despair but I feel bad for the people posting on LinkedIn looking for jobs, and recent layoffs on Reddit, whose unemployment either has already run out, or is about to run out. People are really going through a tough time. Farmers are also having difficult issues due to recent events.Sorry rutgersal that you feel this despair. Perhaps you would rather have the country go bankrupt… and yes that could still happen. In the 90’s recession I lost almost 300k - then 6 years prior to my retirement 200k … my father who passed in 2014 told me both times you make your money back and I did and after 10 years of retirement both the Mrs. and I understand what he is trying to do… if you and others can’t see that all his predecessors failed by not addressing the China issue well maybe that RU education didn’t serve it’s purpose. This guy ( in charge) was not the reason we owe trillions in debt. BTW: He has done EXACTLY what he said he would do on the campaign trail if elected. Transparency we had not seen since the actor from California. You are a young man still. All will be good… you came into this world bare assed and penniless. You will possibly have to leave the same.
That's what I was driving at. You have that combined with the folks in HR not fully understanding what you need or are looking for as a fit. And I don't want to kill HR here as they are slammed in many large organizations. I think many excellent candidates are missed for some positions and the search goes on longer than it should.A lot of resumes are being filtered out by Artificial Intelligence.
Perhaps he prefers 15 million undocumented illegals here on US soilSorry rutgersal that you feel this despair. Perhaps you would rather have the country go bankrupt… and yes that could still happen. Depends on what happens by July… time will tell .I’m not feeling any despair but I feel bad for the people posting on LinkedIn looking for jobs, and recent layoffs on Reddit, whose unemployment either has already run out, or is about to run out. Well it does make this old man think… who really was in charge from 2020-2024 ? The world laughed and now people can’t understand that though difficult we have to stop the drain off by allies and enemies .Perhaps he prefers 15 million undocumented illegals here on US soil
Maybe he liked the well thought out and even better executed withdrawl from afghanistian
It certainly sounds like he was a fan of dementia riddled old guy who everyone assured us mere peons was perfectly fine to run the country, or the cackling empty suit who took his place midway through the election cycle
Only questions he can answer
This is one of what will be many. If USA was a stock it’s going to the stratosphere
Certainly not the guy from Delaware that pardoned half the country and loves himself some ice creamWell it does make this old man think… who really was in charge from 2020-2024 ? A beautiful sightThis is one of what will be many. If USA was a stock it’s going to the stratosphere
You clearly aren’t paying attention. Most transparent administration in history. And it ain’t even close. So much has happened that has slowed things down. But it really has come down to the fear of money and budgets.
Maybe tariffs can have long term benefits but in the short term- it crushes everyone. Companies do rely on foreign workers as well as parts from all over the world. Yeah, maybe it is the pull the band aide off but it has an immediate negative affect. And it will take a long time to turn things positive. But, the real concern is that no matter how you slice it- tariffs to raise the foreign market or hiring and manufacturing here in the U.S. - the cost of doing business goes up. And that also makes companies hold off on spend.
Transparency? Someone says- huh? Are the tariffs needed or are they a negotiation ploy? There is zero transparency with the man in charge.
yeah- he was a complete idiot as wellCertainly not the guy from Delaware that pardoned half the country and loves himself some ice cream

Posting on LinkedIn looking for jobs seems lazy and ineffectiveI’m not feeling any despair but I feel bad for the people posting on LinkedIn looking for jobs, and recent layoffs on Reddit, whose unemployment either has already run out, or is about to run out. He never does pay attention …has and never will. Some on the boards understand the reason why he is doing this but you have to be brain dead not to understand we are so close to going BANKRUPT as a nation … never mind recession worries and your personal fortunes. This guy understands this but there are those who continue denigrate this man though as I maintain he told the country he was going to do exactly all these things starting with the southern border , illegals and the deficit. He intimated today about not wanting people to loose their personal nest eggs. Call it for the reality we are not able adjust nor are we a strong tough nation like that Greatest generation who suffered much more than most in the US today ever came close to.You clearly aren’t paying attention. Most transparent administration in history. And it ain’t even close.
Absolutely zero to do with the job market here. Stay on topic or take it to CE.Perhaps he prefers 15 million undocumented illegals here on US soil

I got my job through LinkedIn, when a recruiter reached out to me. 3 Million people got their jobs through LinkedIn last year. Works for me.Posting on LinkedIn looking for jobs seems lazy and ineffective
I didn’t have any complaints about the economy from 2020-2024. My 401K was much bigger than it is now.Where were your complaints about the economy in 2020-2024? We will be fine. Just more extreme reaction by you like a teenage girl
