What is happening for Rutgers in the transfer portal is laughable but in a basketball competitive sense totally unacceptable.Just look at the names of players going to other B1G Ten teams from the transfer portal. Fans are getting a education on how winning teams keep attracting higher level recruits under a NIL environment and in contrast, Rutgers gets the leftovers.Fans are upset but there is silence from the athletic department.Kicking the can down the road mentality stinks.

We have to out smart the competition and exploit under valued players and traits.
Extract value from them before they transfer for more money.

Under 6'0" scoring guards isn't one of those areas.
His opinion is that it’s a poor signing that a GM would not have made. So, he’s suggesting he himself is also savvy re roster construction and the finances. He’s playing Monday morning GM. Conceited ******** Blather. Pike knows 1000x more than he does.

His pseudo GM opinion about Pike’s competence is wholly invalid.

What athletic department? Who is going to say anything? Who has any authority?

Five spots to fill - bit of an overreaction
Here is the issue, those 5 all have to be high level starters because the current roster would only make up a decent bench. We know we don’t have the money that would take to be true. Tough to be optimistic from here.

Go **** yourself
Lou is actually not wrong here, both Francis and Pike will be laughing all the way to the bank. Pike will seemingly never admit the game has passed him by and retire ie coach K, Wright and larranaga so we will be stuck with him till 2030. He’s going to make Rutgers pay him every dime of his contract.

Pike knows no one is coming here after last season and his power conference coaching days are over except at RU, so now he's just mailing it in, IMO

No - at the end of the day making the NCAAs is great but if you polled most kids, they would rather collect a check and be a major player on a Rutgers team competing in the BIG than sit at the end of a winning team bench for the same money. And it’s not going to be the same money. The teams with $10M are dumping the resources in bidding wars for 5-6 players max. They aren’t stupid. Even with only 20% of everyone else’s resources we should be able to buy 2 real players. Using what we have for Francis is ridiculous.

The site he refers to is https://evanmiya.com/
702nd ranked player in the portal. This is starting to remind me of the Shea era.
Pikiell is a NEC level coach in today's environment. Next year will be brutal for Rutgers Basketball. Men's and women's program need an enema as soon as a new AD gets settled in.

No one is mailing it in. We’re waiting for the settlement which will hopefully be approved this week, and then we’ll be able to go out and get some players.

Absolutely. Being able to offer $3M more will boost recruiting. Maryland is pretty much done with their transfer recruiting because they had money.

I can guarantee Pike and co. have already been operating in the portal under the assumption we have the $3m to spend. The concerning thing is it seemingly hasn’t mattered with respect to the level of talent our staff is capable of reeling in

Absolutely, but we couldn’t make a finalized offer. We made contingent offers subject to the settlement, if any were made. That’s a huge difference. Everyone else has NIL money.

Everyone else has also budgeted in the pending settlement though. I don’t think the settlement changes a thing with respect to how our staff attacks the portal

Like I said, it doesn’t change how we attack the portal but it prevents us from finalizing deals. No one is committing to Rutgers until they have finalized dollars, not contingent dollars.
