This is the scientific equivalent of putting a tube of mushed up meat in a long bun and calling it a sandwich.
They changed a handful of genes (20 sites over 14 genes) in regular wolves so that the fur color changed, and now they call them "dire wolves".
"These newcomers are not 100% exactly the same dire wolf that roamed the earth ages ago, but look as genetically close as cutting-edge technology could get."
Hmmm.. where was Dr. Fauci when they started this thing?
That's one way to bring China back to the negotiating table, until they copy that tooBring on the velociraptors!
Calling them "back from extinction" is definitely stupid. This is the scientific equivalent of putting a tube of mushed up meat in a long bun and calling it a sandwich.

Absolute waste of time and money.
Yes and now they will get listed on the Endangered Species list!!!!!and your tax dollars probably paid for it
Biotechs also created covid and who do you think paid for that? The anti-gummit nitwits could figure out the dire wolf funding in a brief Google search. Hint: This work was done by a biotech company.
facts don't matter when you live in an alternative universeThe anti-gummit nitwits could figure out the dire wolf funding in a brief Google search. Hint: This work was done by a biotech company.
From 2017-2021, the U.S. provided at least $48 million to research institutions, companies, and other recipients located in China.Biotechs also created covid and who do you think paid for that?
This is being done by a company that is worth $2 billion.and your tax dollars probably paid for it
At this point in time they were able to extract genes from ancient fossils and make them viableThis is the scientific equivalent of putting a tube of mushed up meat in a long bun and calling it a sandwich.

You ruined what would have been a unhinged rant by some folks. The anti-gummit nitwits could figure out the dire wolf funding in a brief Google search. Hint: This work was done by a biotech company.
hahaha and that could bring it to 4 series that were great but didnt end well. lolDexter?
Lost?
So do I.At this point in time they were able to extract genes from ancient fossils and make them viable
The press release should have been more about progress being made in that area, not saying they have brought the wolf back
I still think it is an impressive accomplishment
Clickbait headlines strike againScientists from Harvard release video of 3 dire wolves using DNA from 13,000 yo tooth and 72,000 yo skull.
It is very cool but it is widely overstated. But the hardest part was the embryology, not the genetics. At this point in time they were able to extract genes from ancient fossils and make them viable
